Brazilian grunge/stoner/punk outfit Apofenia releases new single »The Octopus«; out now via Abraxas Records!

Curitiba, Brazil based grunge/stoner/punk outfit Apofenia has released their new single »The Octopus« via Abraxas Records.

Says the band: “»The Octopus« is the new single by Apofenia. The song talks about mega-corporations and how they operate above the law, co-opting governments, politics, the media, and science to ensure they never pay for their crimes. It also tackles the multi-layered nature of these conglomerates, pointing out how they own dozens or even hundreds of brands across completely different industries, making it almost impossible for consumers to know who they’re actually buying from.”

Apofenia releases »The Octopus«, a new single coming soon to digital platforms with a music video.

The Curitiba-based band Apofenia kicks off the year with the release of »The Octopus«, their first single of 2026. The track is already available on all digital platforms and marks the continuation of the sonic work begun on their debut EP »Fragments« (August 2025). The official music video will be released soon.

»The Octopus« addresses how truth and morality often take a backseat to the profits of large corporations. The song maintains the balance between melancholy and aggression that defines the band’s identity, and is also one of the most requested tracks by the audience during shows.

In the song, the band used 8-bar blocks to organize part of the lyrics and melody. This structure alludes to the metaphor of the octopus and the tentacles of large corporations, present in the song’s theme about corporate control.

Hailing from the independent scene in Curitiba (PR), the band Apofenia has established itself as one of the most promising names in the new wave of original rock music from Paraná. Formed in 2024 by a group of old friends who were simply looking for an excuse to play together, the band quickly abandoned cover songs to develop a robust and authentic sound identity.

In August 2025, the band took an important step with the release of their debut EP, titled »Fragments«. The work features six tracks that reflect the collage of references from each member of the group, making the EP’s name no coincidence.
