Brazilian sludge/doom metal trio Kuarup (feat. current and former members of Nekkrofuneral, A Peste and Omfalos) stream their debut EP, »A Dor é o Combustível da Mudança«, which was just released on March 21st, 2025.

The songs are written in Portuguese and focus on the realities of colonialism, fascism, and late capitalism. Alienation, unemployment, addiction, and existential struggle run through the lyrics, reflecting a sense of frustration and urgency.

Guest musicians contribute to the record, with Danyel Noir (Facada, Plastique Noir) and A. Neil (Infamous Glory, Laconist, Gulag) on lead guitars, Flavio Neves (Deuszebul, Open The Coffin, Son of a Witch) on drums, and Fernando Duarte on mandolin. The album was recorded at Less Than Zero Studio, mixed by José Antônio Dai Hou, and mastered by Nicolas Gomes at Heavytrek Studio.

The band approaches these songs with a directness that matches the weight of their themes. There is no attempt to soften the edges, only a commitment to putting these struggles into sound.
