Swedish progressive/post-metal behemoths Burst release a performance video for the track »(We Watched) The Silver Rain« from their live session at Soundport Studio.
The band comments: “Someone said today is the 30th anniversary for the release of »Tomb Of The Mutilated« by Cannibal Corpse, so we thought we’d celebrate it by posting the third and last video from our Soundport sessions.
The sessions, recorded by Mikael Andersson and visualized by Mathias Coulouri over a weekend just before Midsummer, was the first time in four years the five of us was in the same room together. Somehow the pieces still fit.
We recorded one song off of each of the three albums reissued by Pelagic Records, and while all three songs are band favourites, this last one is perhaps the most personal and daunting of the three. Lyrically, »(We Watched) The Silver Rain« deals with the ambivalence of growing up in Smalltown, Sweden; restraint and community all at once, in a town in the woods by the lake.
Musically, it ended up both weird, hard and melodic, and a real challenge to arrange. But when we eventually took it on the road it became one of our live favourites, despite being ten minutes long with a fucking three minute build up intro.
If you join us, Norna and Per Wiberg in Sweden/Denmark in November, chances are you’ll see a live rendition of this bad boy.
We aren’t doing a lot of shows to commemorate these reissues, so don’t snooze on the ticket acquisition.”

Post-metal auteurs Burst (Sweden) announce return, 2022 remastered vinyl release of their classic 3 albums »Prey On Life« (2003), »Origo« (2005) and »Lazarus Bird« (2008) and live shows.
When Swedish progressive metal quintet Burst disbanded indefinitely after a string of acclaimed albums and an intense live catharsis in Gothenburg, Sweden in December 2009, it marked the end of a 15 year evolution. What started out as young, crusty hardcore band in the 90’s, developed into a unique blend of metal, progressive rock and hardcore, alternating grand atmospheres with abrasive metal and melancholy melodicism. During the following years, the die-hards kept the torch lit while new fans discovered the band’s catalogue, but apart from a one-off appearance at Spain’s Be Prog festival in 2018, the band has remained quietly slumbering. Until 2022.
This fall, Pelagic Records will release »A Labyrinth Of Layers« – an exclusive vinyl box set of the classic triptych »Prey On Life« (2003), »Origo« (2005) and »Lazarus Bird« (2008), as well as individual standalone LP releases of the aforementioned albums – the first two for the first time ever on vinyl format. Originally released on CD through Relapse Records, the albums have been remastered and graphically refurbished in 2022, with all new artwork by Robert Samsonovitz.
During their tenure, Burst mastered the art of continuous progression, always evolving, always treading uncarefully, never abiding. Burst’s live performances mirrored their albums; a display of meteoric ferociousness and heavy grooves, weaving effortlessly in and out of metallic outrage, stark melodies, and ethereal soundscapes.
To celebrate the reissues, the band announced their new partnership with Doomstar Bookings and a short string of live performances in the Nordic this coming November, with more European plans for 2023. Burst will be joined by Norna, fronted by Tomas Liljedahl of Breach / The Old Wind, and multi-instrumentalist Per Wiberg, formerly of Opeth, Spiritual Beggars and Kamchatka.
