Coming on two decades of riffs and grooves, the duo of Kelly Waldrip and Marc Kaufman at the heart of Sludgebucket embark on a new era of the band with their latest album »Vampiric Earth«.
Though long flying the stoner metal banner, the two piece are leaning into the heavy fusion and progressive influences that have always been their foundation. Locked in with a tightness that can only come from nearly twenty years of making music together, Kelly and Marc lay down seven tracks of delicious bass licks, in-the-pocket drumming, a knack for space and atmosphere.
Jazz, funk, prog, you name it, the bass and drum duo capture it all with ease and class.
In the band’s own words:
“This album is about a world on fire, currently, and since the inception of humans, where we are going, and how, inevitably, we will end up.
We are a heavy fusion band at the core, though we call ourselves ‘stoner metal’. We have influences from many decades. Krautrock/psychedelic from the 60s, progressive from the 70s, punk 80s, doom metal/sludge metal/stoner metal/noise/post-metal 90s-present. We’re also influenced by jazz, Latin, funk as well.”
What’s next:
“We are currently working on material for a live, as well as, more material for another single, and another full length.”
This album is dedicated to the memory of my sister, Kim Henderson. RIP. Love you, sis.
