Oakland, California, heavy rock trio Phantom Hound has released a superb new single and an accompanying music video for »Claims & Prospects«. This is the third single off their upcoming album, »From Boom Town To Ghost Town«, due out on September 18th, 2024, via Glory or Death Records.
The band has also announced a run of live dates on a “Gold Fever Tour” in October. Find the tour dates below, as well as details on the album and this new video tale of madness coming straight from the mouths of Hounds:
“»Claims & Prospects« is about being on top of the world one second, only to wake up the next day to find yourself at rock bottom. It takes a lot of work to keep your head above water these days, and sometimes it feels like Uncle Sam is gonna drain you of every last quarter. Our new video takes a comedic stab at the tall tale in the story of one band’s pursuit of some dang pizza.”
Formed in 2013 as “Hound”, the original trio recorded and released »The Ether« EP in 2016, focusing on desert rock-driven riffs and grungy blues licks. They explored multiple tunings and influences with a refreshed lineup, including doom metal, blues rock, and classic rock, and in 2018, they officially expanded the name to “Phantom Hound”. With producer Chris Hughes, they collectively focused on self-releasing their debut album, »Mountain Pass«, in 2020 on their in-house label Devil Blues Records. While promoting »Mountain Pass« during the pandemic, they toured the Pacific Northwest in 2021 and the Southwest in 2022.
They partnered again with producer Chris Hughes from Stereo Lunch in 2023, drawing inspiration from modern heavy psych lords and mixing them with core inspirations in the legends of grunge and sludge worlds for recording their second full-length, »From Boom Town To Ghost Town«, at Bird & Egg in Richmond, CA. Justin Weis of Trakworx completed the album mastering.
The extensive cover and inner artwork of the »From Boom Town To Ghost Town« album, as well as the poster for Phantom Hound’s upcoming Gold Fever Tour, was created by Diogo Soares. The new album will be released on Glory or Death Records on September 18, 2024.
