“Aceves is the solo storm from ZED’s bassist – »Magnum Dopus« is his debut: raw punk heart, stoner rock soul, and unapologetic rock and roll. Beautifully flawed. Loud as hell.”

Aceves, longtime bassist of San Jose heavyweights ZED, breaks free and steps into the spotlight with his solo debut »Magnum Dopus« – a loud, unfiltered testament to loss, love, rebellion, and refusing to go quietly.

Written fast and raw between January and April 2025, »Magnum Dopus« captures the energy of a life lived with fists clenched and heart wide open.

After losing both his bandmate Sean Boyles and his father within a year, Aceves poured every ounce of grief, fight, and hope into nine songs that don’t just demand to be heard – they demand to be felt.

The record opens with »The True And Indisputable Meaning Of Rock And Roll«, featuring a real voice clip from Boyles himself, throwing down the gauntlet: live while you can, love while you can, rage while you can.

From there, the album tears and thrashes through the defiant dancefloor rocker »Still Ain’t Dead«, the outlaw-punk love letter »Taxi Driver«, and the bittersweet apocalypse anthem »Love In The Time Of Apocalypse«.

Tracks like »Hail Mary« become rallying cries for anyone who’s ever been counted out, while »Daisies« offers a blast of punk optimism in a broken world. A heavy, soul-drenched reimagining of Lee Fields’ »Faithful Man« proves Aceves’ range, and the closing acoustic track, »For My Children«, reminds us: behind the noise, there’s real heart.

»Magnum Dopus« is messy, beautiful, and real – the kind of record you scream along to at 2AM when the world feels like it’s ending and you’re still fighting anyway.

This album is dedicated to the memory of Sean Wayne Boyles and Jose J Aceves.

The first song is dedicated to Scott Chavez Chavez, who is working on kicking cancers ass.

Written and recorded between January and April 2025.
