»Traditional Addictions«, the latest full-length from Canadian doom bringers Yeti On Horseback is currently streaming in its demoralizing entirety. The premiere arrives on the eve of the record’s official unveiling this Friday, July 24th.
Hailing from London, Ontario, Yeti On Horseback exists to fill a void left in heavy metal with their seemingly merciless ability to forge a sound as unique and original as it is lethal and intoxicating. Misanthropic sonic sludge and macabre lyrics are laid over a musical foundation of soul-crushing riffs that flow freely from their dedication to all that is heavy.
Writes Everything In Noise in part, “Four songs and forty-seven minutes of absolute carnation, that’s really it in a nutshell. Having been in the works for four years with themes stemming from cycles of trauma and addiction and how the two affect one another, Yeti On Horseback takes no prisoners while providing the artillery for masses on the entirety of the record, where each passing minute is like yet another layer to the tiered and murky musical pile of slowly grinding devastation.”

»Traditional Addictions« was recorded with Greg Dawson over the course of four years. The album theme stems from the cycle of trauma and addiction begetting one another throughout modern history. The record flows to and from these themes with each side of the album.
The band comments, “This is easily our best work to date, as a rising tide lifts all ships. It’s a natural progression from our previous work and shows where the band is heading. It’s still the monumentally crushing, heavy, and damning sound of Yeti On Horseback, but with a new, more focused, thick sound and layered vocals. Working with Greg at BWC Studios elevated and challenged us further than we ever could have imagined. There is no replacement for life experience; we can all manipulate technology, but not everyone can shepherd and guide. Greg became a friend, a leader, and a contributor, proving to be the right choice at the right time.”
»Traditional Addictions« will be available on vinyl and digital formats. Jes Dunn (Ad Astra Tattoo) worked closely with the band to create a field-journal-style art layout that truly coalesces the message of the album into a visual format. The vinyl is 45rpm and 180g, including an art insert to fully immerse the listener in the thematic experience.
