Lodestar are a 2-piece Canadian doom/gothic metal studio band which formed in 2020 from a collection of passionate people who met during the pandemic. Kate Glock takes lead vocals and synth. While Jensen Rodolfo takes on the role as the guitar player, while also doing the bass and drums. Together they create a style of music which is slow, heavy, and yet melodic. Combining from genres such as doom metal, gothic metal, and of hard rock, to bring something that is moody, atmospheric and emotional.

A lodestar is a person or thing that serves as guide or source of inspiration. It can also be a star which guides the course of a ship, to show the way for weary travelers to find their way home. This name was chosen due to the meaning behind the word. The band wants to convey meaning in their music, which they hope can serve as a source of strength for others.

With a growing fanbase they have reached 37,000 YouTube views on their 2nd studio album »Event Horizon«. With more success coming with every album release, the band strives to push forward and add something new to their sound with every new album.

About the third studio album »Polaris«: “People can expect to hear on this album more hard rock influence while still retaining our doom/gothic metal sound. In addition we added synth and orchestral elements. This album is uplifting and empowering not only in the music, but also the vocals and lyrical themes. We wanted to touch on the lighter side of life and hope that people feel a connection to some of the songs. The goal was to live up to the band’s name and be that inspiration for others who are struggling. If someone listening to this album finds some kind of connection or feels an emotion we have done our job. Its some of the best work the we have done so far.

Some songs have gotten more progressive which takes the listener on a journey with some twists and turns. Songs like »Distance To Your Light« and the 10 min long epic »World Of Change« are great examples of this. For fans of the band’s doom/gothic metal sound, there is plenty to be found on this album. »Save Me From Fate« and »In Your Shadow« are songs that contrast some of the lighter hard rock songs, and are sure to satisfy people who love our darker sound. We would like to thank Riccardo Pasini from Studio 73 for his talent and skill in making this a well mixed album. It’s our second album we have done with him and we will continue to work with him with future albums.
