Nova Scotia, Canada’s doom metal act Прадедушка have released their second full-length album, »Атеист«, now available on Bandcamp and all major streaming platforms.
Originally formed as a parody project, the band first emerged with »Жизнь«, a release intended as a joke that gradually found genuine appreciation among listeners. Over time, that unexpected response led the project into a different direction. Encouraged by fan feedback, the band adopted the name Прадедушка to separate this chapter from its original concept and began work on a new record built on a more serious foundation.
The result is »Атеист«, a four-track, 51-minute doom metal album that leans into weight and atmosphere. The guitars land with blunt force, the bass lines move with a slow, serpentine presence, and the vocals cut through the mix with a raw intensity. Lyrically, the album centres on the loss of religion and the strengthening of personal will once myth is stripped away, with all lyrics performed entirely in Russian.
Speaking about the release, frontman Ричард says: “With the release of »Атеист«, I am very happy to leave the realm of parody band behind. I look forward to what the future brings.”
For listeners drawn to the slow, crushing side of doom metal, the release sits in familiar territory alongside Candlemass, Reverend Bizarre, and Skepticism.
