Canadian doom/sludge/stoner metal outfit Pale Mare share new single and music video »Executioner’s Lament«; out now via Seeing Red Records!

Toronto, Canada based doom/sludge/stoner metal outfit Pale Mare share new single and music video »Executioner’s Lament«, released on June 11th, 2024 via Seeing Red Records.
Says the band: “The Executioner is a stalwart figure in both heavy metal and in human history. Humans have always been obsessed with watching people die and Executioners were more often than not part of the show. They played an important role. Delivering justice and sending the condemned towards to wherever it was they were going. To regular folk they were both feared, and revered. Thought to bring upon a curse if you even touched an executioner. Although they were integral, they were isolated from regular society. This is the »Executioner’s Lament«.
We wanted to film the band getting our heads chopped off and still jamming out all beheaded and shit… blood spurting everywhere but turns out we blew the video budget on weed and beer. Go figure.
So we did a different video… about a different kind of workplace related lament. You ever have the worst week ever? Just fuckin’ nothings going your way. Your pants are stained from yesterday’s mustard while you warm up a shitty frozen dinner. On top of it all work sucks and your boss is a dick. What do you do after a week like that? You fuckin grab a case and all the fixings for a big night and you go let loose at the Pale Mare show. Forget about work man… work sucks.”

Pale Mare about their previous single »Mountain Of Skulls«: “»Mountain Of Skulls« was directly inspired by the short story »A Fragment« by Lafcadio Hearn, from In Ghostly Japan. A pilgrim embarks on a treacherous climb up a harrowing mountain path, lead by a Bodhisattva. Terrible fear grips him at every step. As the sun rises on the range, the pilgrim sees that the mountain is made of human skulls. As explained by his guide, each skull is his own, from different lives lived, throughout the dawn of time. The story is a reflection on having lived many lives, facing challenges and ascending beyond them. Besides, what’s heavier than a Mountain of Skulls?”
Featuring new bass player Luke Vasilakos, »Mountain Of Skulls« builds on the bands foundation of big riffs, deep grooves, and meaty tones but signals an evolution moving forward, as the trio more deeply explore meter, tension and texture.
Pale Mare is loud, heavy metal trio blending elements of heavy groove with punishing riffs. Based out of Toronto, Ontario.
Engineered and mixed by Wayne Cochrane.
Mastered by Rueben Ghose.
