Toronto, Ontario based instrumental doom/sludge metal act Plasmos shares new music video for »Spectral Musings« taken from their debut album, entitled »COSM«, which was released on May 5th, 2026.

Plasmos presents »Spectral Musings«, from the album »COSM«. »Spectral Musings« inhabits the threshold spaces, the places that feel empty but somehow never quite are.

The track circles the idea of discarnate agencies, spectral presences, and parasitic intelligences that gather at the edges of perception, lingering in the cracks between waking and dream, architecture and shadow, flesh and atmosphere.

The imagery draws heavily from Gothic vampire mythology, but the vampire here is less a creature than a principle: something liminal, patient, and unseen that feeds by proximity. A presence that does not need to announce itself because it is already there, crouched just beyond recognition, taking sustenance from fear, fixation, exhaustion, or attention.

Musically, the song moves like a slow transmission from behind the visible world. Warped guitar tones, oppressive low end, and decaying frequencies create the sense of an old signal seeping through the walls of reality. The closer the tones lock together, the more the boundary seems to weaken.

»Spectral Musings« is about that moment when a room feels occupied before anything appears, when the dark begins to suggest form, and when you wonder whether the thing at the edge of perception has been watching you much longer than you have been watching it.

The track opens with a sample of Robert Bigelow of Bigelow Aerospace speaking with George Knapp about the “hitchhiker effect,” the idea that anomalous presences can attach themselves to people and seemingly follow them home. It frames »Spectral Musings« as more than Gothic atmosphere, turning the vampire imagery into a metaphor for something unseen, persistent, and parasitic moving at the margins of human experience that follows you home…

Plasmos is doom and sludge dragged through a broken transmitter abandoned at the bottom of some lightless abyss. Slow, crushing rhythms, enormous low-end pressure, and guitar tones that sound like they’ve crawled up through miles of black static from somewhere they were never supposed to reach us. There’s an occult current underneath it all, but not the theatrical kind. More like the uneasy realization that reality has seams, the seams are starting to split, and something on the other side has figured out how to broadcast through them.
