Canadian sludge/stoner metal band Seum premiere the first single »Snow Bird« taken from their upcoming sophomore album »Double Double«

Montreal, Canada based sludge/stoner metal trio Seum premiere the first single »Snow Bird« taken from their upcoming sophomore album, »Double Double«, set to release on February 2nd, 2023.

»Double Double« will be self-released on CD and released on vinyl with an alternative cover artwork via Electric Spark Records.

»Double Double«: Canada-specific term used to describe a caffeine filled caloric bomb: a dark blend of coffee with two teaspoons of sugar and two creams.

After a successful debut album – »Winterized« – praised for its powerful dark tone and fuzzy heaviness, Seum is stepping out of the Seum-Cave to present a more aggressive side of their bass and drums formula in »Double Double« to be released on February 2nd 2023.

Nourished with the experience gathered during their intense live shows given across France and Canada for the last 2 years, the Montreal band added fast punk inspired riffs – sugar – and groovy doom breakdowns – cream – to their dark blend of Doom’N’Bass.

Opting for a warmer and more open production than their introspective debut, Seum is helped by the legendary John Golden (Melvins, Sleep, Weedeater) on mastering to shape the tone of their most narrative (»Razorblade Rainbow«, »Seum Noir«) and catchiest (»Torpedo«, »Snow Bird«) songs to date.

Unique and hypnotizing just like Double Boy – the cover art creature created by long-time collaborator Gorka Uztarroz – »Double Double« is a middle finger to the second album curse.

»Double Double« will be self-released on CD and released on Vinyl with an alternative cover artwork by Electric Spark. The first single »Snow Bird« is released on January 1st.

To promote the album the band has organized a citywide treasure hunt: fans are invited to repost “SEUM 2X2” stencils spread across Montreal in their social media. The best stencil finder will be invited with their friends for a private show and party.

Seum is a Montreal Doom’n’Bass band formed by 3 European French veterans expats formerly in Lord Humungus (Gaspard – vocals), Mlah! (Piotr – bass), and Uluun (Fred – drums). Seum means “venom” in Arabic and is French slang for disappointment and frustration.

The band is only using drums, vocals and bass, no guitars.

Seum released its first EP in 2020 (»Summer of Seum«) followed by a split 7” with Fatima, a first album »Winterized« in June 2021 (released on vinyl by Electric Spark, tape by Ruidoteka Records, re-released in Japan by Unforgiven Blood Records). The band went on its first European tour in 2021 following the release of the EP »Blueberry Cash« in April 2022. »Double Double« is their second album.
