American dark folk solo artist Chelsea Wolfe has released a haunting live acoustic performance video for »The Dark«.
The performance video features a raw, stripped-down rendition of her single »The Dark« set against the surreal, otherworldly landscape of Mono Lake in California.
»The Dark« originally debuted in June 2026 as a dual-single release alongside »Death Is Not The End« via Loma Vista Recordings. Both tracks were created in partnership with the artisan fragrance house Heretic Parfum.

The studio version of »The Dark« starts as an intimate, quiet folk song before building into a heavy, roaring sonic wall. By contrast, the Mono Lake live version preserves the stark vulnerability of the song’s beginning, emphasizing Wolfe’s ethereal vocals and barren chord shapes. Wolfe has noted that the song plays with themes of finding wisdom in internal whispers and viewing empty spaces or voids as areas full of transition and possibility.
Filmed in Mono County, CA, the alien-like tufa towers and desolate waters of Mono Lake provide a perfect atmospheric backdrop that mirrors the gothic nature of Wolfe’s music. The original project footage was captured by photographer Magdalena Wosinska, with additional footage and final video editing handled by Chelsea Wolfe and her longtime collaborator Ben Chisholm.
