Sótano started in 2010 by Iván Villanueva (guitar and vocals), Víctor Silva (bass and vocals) and Alejandro Sanhueza (drums), first as a Black Sabbath cover band, playing in various venues in Santiago de Chile. However, the need to create one’s own songs arose, this is how the first compositions appear. After a period of inactivity, in which each member worked on other projects, in 2015 the band began to work fully on what would become their first album. In 2016 they managed to enter the studio, with the help of Planetario Fuzz Rec’s, to record the band’s first LP, called »El Rey Maquina«, released in January 2017.

The album obtained several reviews from various international media, receiving good reviews. As promotion of the album, the band remained actively playing in various places in Santiago. After the pandemic and the corresponding problems in being able to continue rehearsals, the band finishes the songs for their second album and begins recording at the Bym Records studio in May 2022. The mixing and mastering work was done again at Planetario Fuzz Rec’s. This second full-length album by the band is called »El Semimuerto«.
