Chilean sludge/stoner metal band Novem presents two new singles: »Carcer Damnatorum« and »Gigantes Dormidos«

Requínoa, Chile based sludge/stoner metal duo Novem has recently released two new singles, »Carcer Damnatorum« and »Gigantes Dormidos«.

Novem is a heavy rock duo formed in mid-2024 by Maldito Vagales (Canera) and Mauricio Vergara (Ágora / Baba Yaga) in Requínoa, in Chile’s Sexta Región.

The band was formed with the intention of creating visceral music – compositions designed to let listeners simply enjoy the full power the genre has to offer.

It all began with the two musicians crafting a series of riffs and rhythms, followed by a search for a bassist. Over time, however, they deemed a bassist unnecessary for their compositional vision; instead, they channeled that energy into further enriching their songs with passages and sounds that would give the project a distinctive character.

In the members’ own words:

“Though our existence has been brief, our intense desire to make music has led us to compose several singles, all recorded at Equinox Studios in Rancagua. These have been released online sporadically over the past month, but the full collection is available on our Bandcamp page.

For the next stage, we plan to record a new batch of songs to be compiled into an LP. Meanwhile, we continue to upload material to popular streaming platforms to keep the band’s sound fresh,
exploring heavy riffs, groovy rhythms, and the signature atmosphere we create through our music. We love to create.”

The project is rooted in the local underground scene, New Orleans sludge, and classic metal. All of this is infused with sonic artistic elements created by the band, drawing inspiration from dark themes, classic films, and introspective reflections.
