Sounds For The Lost Generation

Chrome Ghost premiere their third full-length album »House Of Falling Ash« in full ahead of its release this Friday via Seeing Red Records!

Californian sludge/doom/post-metal band Chrome Ghost premiere their third full-length album »House Of Falling Ash« in its entirety at Decibel Magazine! »House Of Falling Ash« will be released this Friday, October 28th, 2022 via Seeing Red Records.

The band comments: “»House Of Falling Ash« is our attempt at expanding our sound and approach farther than we have before. We really let our influences and inspirations take over and embraced some ideas that would have seemed impossible if not unlikely on recordings past, namely the arpeggiated synth inspired by Phillip Glass’ Prophecies, pedal steel guitar and a general sense of the western aesthetic taken from music by Ennio Morricone, Earth, Neil Young, etc. There’s also a dreamier shoegaze texture reminiscent of My Bloody Valentine and Shiner. We hoped that using a wide palette of sounds would illustrate the album’s themes – those of living in the past, of the symbolism within the guarded self, how self-soothing self-destruction can be, and the lengths we go to hide from pain.”

Chrome Ghost is a Sacramento based melodic doom band formed in 2015 by guitarist and vocalist Jake Kilgore and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Jacob Hurst. Following the release of their first full-length, »Choir Of The Low Spirits«, and their two EP’s, »Reflection Pool« and »Shallows«, bassist Joe Cooper entered the fold and appeared on their second full-length and much heralded release, 2019’s »The Diving Bell«.

In the turbulent years following the winter of 2019’s »The Diving Bell« release, Chrome Ghost have returned with their latest and most sprawling album, »House Of Falling Ash«. This record sees Jake, Jacob, and Joe re-uniting with their long-standing creative partner and engineer Pat Hills to present an expansive album that covers everything from Doom, Shoegaze, Americana, with inspiration ranging from Philip Glass, Ennio Morricone, Fleetwood Mac, and Boris.

Over the past couple of years the band have been fortunate to share the stage with bands like YOB, Helms Alee, Big Business, Whores, Kowloon Walled City, CHRCH, Usnea, and many more. Looks for more dates to come.
