Costa Rican band Adiós Cometa announces the release of their new album »Un destello de luz«, out January 29, 2026 via Spinda Records as part of their Noisy Series, in collaboration with Steadfast Records for the vinyl edition and Furia for distribution in Costa Rica.

Between fear and hope, »Un destello de luz« is the band’s most cohesive and mature work to date. The album moves between the need to flee and the decision to stay, forming an emotional journey where the songs converse with each other. “This time everything feels coherent. It’s a darker, more deliberate record,” explains Pablo Matamoros.

Sonically, Adiós Cometa deepens its signature sound: angular guitars, layers of restrained distortion, atmospheric passages, and a constant search to sound raw, big, and close to the live experience. The album unfolds in two halves: a first section that is more direct and upfront, and a second part that is slower, denser, and more introspective.

After the singles »Candelaria«, »El mundo en mis brazos (Leonor)« and »Luminosa«, the album’s focus track is »Una vida en otra parte«, a song that perfectly embodies the record’s spirit: introspection, emotional tension, and a sensitivity that looks inward without losing intensity. Together with tracks like »Candelaria« and »Luminosa«, it forms the core emotional essence of the album.

Collaborations play a key role in the album’s narrative. Most notably, Lucía Masnatta from Argentine band Fin del Mundo features on »El mundo en mis brazos (Leonor)«, one of the album’s most moving moments. Contributions from María Paula Vásquez (Encarta 98), Amanda Murillo (A su ladera) and Joaquin Vanrafelghem (montegrande) further expand the album’s sonic and emotional palette. “We love collaborating and being surprised by what other artists bring to our songs,” shares Emanuel Mora.

Un destello de luz
During the pre-release campaign, »Un destello de luz« gained significant international attention, including a full feature on KEXP within El Cancionero de El Sonido and coverage in Bandcamp Daily, as well as features in media publications such as Rolling Stones, Radio 3, Ruta 66 or Idioteq, consolidating the band’s global projection.

»Un destello de luz« confronts themes such as memory, loss, parenthood, responsibility, and legacy. Four of the five band members are parents, an experience that informs the album with honesty and without idealization. “There’s fear, solitude, and forgetting, but also hope. Amid all the bad, it’s worth fighting for the good,” reflects Jonathan Villalobos.

Edited by Spinda Records, in collaboration with Steadfast Records (U.S.) and with distribution in Costa Rica by Furia, the album is now available in digital format, vinyl, CD, and cassette. It marks the beginning of a new phase for Adiós Cometa, who are preparing live performances across Latin America, the United States, and Europe.
