Their new release »Endless Gifts For Me, Myself And I« marks the heaviest and most progressive step in their work to date – the album is inspired by the grunge movement of the nineties, as well as more recent stoner rock and prog-rock releases.
After nearly six years of work, »Endless Gifts For Me, Myself And I« presents Tight Grips’ take on the seven deadly sins. Not as isolated vices, but as forces deeply embedded in society. The band looks at pride, lust, greed, sloth, anger, gluttony and envy through everyday life, exploring how these sins drive human behavior in communities of all sizes. As destructive as they are, they are also strangely creative. Fuel that drives creation, but demands attention and caution.
The album cover motif is the baobab, a tree rich in symbolism and legend. It is often called the “tree of life”, and stories of endurance, mystery and hidden depths are associated with it. The seven main branches on the cover branch out into seven smaller ones, mimicking the fractal patterns that sometimes appear in the natural shape of the tree. This image reflects the essence of the album: sins are not isolated, but endless, recurring forces intertwined in everything around us.

The album opens with »Death Will Follow«, a song about pride, original sin, and the natural beginning. The lyrics place humanity on stage as movers and creators, clearly distinguished from “ordinary animals” equipped with unlimited power. It’s about the dangerous feeling of superiority and control, and how quickly it can all fall apart. This opening song sets the stage for what follows: a journey through human weaknesses and the ways they manifest in ourselves and the world around us.
»Friction« is about lust, but not the simple kind. It’s about manipulation and control, about how intimacy becomes a weapon in closed circles. There’s a disconnect between what you see and what’s really going on behind the scenes.
Greed is brought to the fore in »Welcome To The Waterfall«. The inspiration comes from the gold rush era, when people risked everything for empty promises and illusory riches. It’s about the insatiable desire for more, something that pulls people down even as it propels them forward. Greed doesn’t really change, it just takes on new forms.
»Raft« depicts laziness through the image of being stuck on a raft in the middle of the ocean. Everything around you is moving, and you are still (or at least seemingly still). It is a feeling of stagnation, trapped between action and paralysis.
»Endless, Pointless« focuses on anger through the lens of domestic violence. It is a dark but necessary portrayal of how anger destroys and isolates, the cycles of repeated violence, and the silence that all too often accompanies them.
»Something Out Of Nothing« explores gluttony, but not just in the physical sense. It’s about the insatiable hunger for power, status, validation. How each new success breeds the desire for even greater. The cycle never ends, and the price only goes up.
The album concludes with »Such Is Home«, a song about envy and the desire for a stable, ordinary life from the perspective of those who don’t have it. It also conveys a desire to escape the cycle of vices that the album explores, a search for something more solid and peaceful. The second part of the song represents a moment of reflection after everything that has come before.
»Endless Gifts For Me, Myself And I« doesn’t offer ready-made answers. Instead, it clearly shows how these vices continue to shape life. Not just as moral weaknesses, but as complex forces that influence the way we live, create, and connect. The album suggests that even difficult feelings and dark impulses can become a source of creation when approached with care and intention.
