Moravia, Czechia based funeral doom/black metal outfit Futile Mourning has just released their debut album »March Towards The Death Party« on September 11th, 2026 via Owlripper Recordings / Noise Mafia / Kabinet Records.

Futile Mourning is a funeral doom/black metal/psychedelic noise quartet from Brno/Havířov/Orlová, Czech Republic. The band features current and former members of High Purity, Kandar, Marne, Impulsealer, Hibakusha, The Owls, Somnus Aeternus, Sloth Hammer & more.

Spanning the northern and southern regions of Moravia, Futile Mourning was formed in early 2024 out of the members’ shared desire to publicly express their love for this dark, melancholic genre. The members are primarily known for their work in lightning-fast grindcore, hardcore, and crust bands – with the notable exception of Kubýk, who had just wrapped up his tenure with the doom act Somnus Aeternus when the band was forming and readily accepted the new challenge. Over the course of his extensive musical career, Paul has also been involved in various sludge, stoner, and doom projects.

Futile Mourning’s music is built upon a funeral doom foundation, interwoven with the chilling breath of epic black metal and torn apart by the claws of psychedelic noise. The spirit of crust punk and unexpected twists hovers over the soundscape.

Given the significant distances between the members’ homes, the initial songwriting process took place primarily online – with ideas and arrangements exchanged digitally – until March 2024. That month, the full lineup met for the first time at a rehearsal space in Orlová and immediately composed their first track, »Where Even The Sun Dies«. Interestingly, this marked the first time Paul and Kubýk had ever met in person. A recording from that rehearsal exists and is available to listen to on the band’s Bandcamp page.

»March Towards The Death Party« was released on September 11, 2026 in digital format with the physical copies following soon (October 2026).
