Mario Lalli & The Rubber Snake Charmers is a collective of musicians from the Californian desert rock scene initiated by Mario Lalli (Fatso Jetson, former Yawning Man), Brant Bjork (Kyuss), Ryan Güt (Stöner) and desert poet Sean Wheeler. The foundation of Mario Lalli’s grooving-heavy bass lines and meditative themes with intuitive guitar work from Brant Bjork and percussions from Ryan Güt set the scene for Sean Wheeler’s captivating spoken word, capturing the dark and beautiful stories and images of life in the Mojave desert of Southerrn California.

Mario Lalli & The Rubber Snake Charmers began in 2010 with a focus on live psychedelic rock improvisation and sonic experimentation curated by desert rock pioneer Mario Lalli, featuring like-minded musicians from all walks of the musical spectrum. The first release from this collective of pioneering desert rock musicians captures the band exercising the desert-born ethic and approach of rock improvisation – psychedelic and flowing, heavy and explorative. »Folklore From The Other Desert Cities« was recorded during an engaging live performance in Gold Coast during their recent Australian tour.
»Folklore From The Other Desert Cities« out March 29th on Heavy Psych Sounds (vinyl/CD)
Anchored by Lalli’s heavy grooving and morphing bass lines, »Folklore From The Other Desert Cities« shapes into a heavy meditation on rhythms, drones, grooves and riffs, sonically becoming a canvas where each participant is encouraged to create fine lines or splatter and explode into chaos… wherever it goes, it goes. Adding to the vision are the dark beautiful words and otherworldly vocal energies of the desert’s own Sean Wheeler. Mario Lalli And The Rubber Snake Charmers takes us on a shaman’s journey through the desert landscape of imagination.
Some of the past Snake Charmers include Dino Lalli, Gary Arce, Tony Tornay, Joe Baiza, Vince Meghrouni, Mathias Schneeberger, Bill Stinson, Nick Oliveri, Janet Housden, Michael Glass, Alain Johannes, Jason Simon, Dave Travis, John Ramirez and Herb Lienau to name a few.
