Houston, Texas based heavy metal act Direlands dropped a motion comic and lyric video for »The Leviathan« from their debut EP, »The Cave You Fear«, out on October 30th, 2020.
The band comments: “Big shout out to Steven Yoyada for illustrating this magnificent comic, and Mad Yeti for bringing it to life. This is our take on old school cartoons, fantasy influences, and heavy metal music. Enjoy!”
Direlands is an American heavy metal band from Houston, Texas.
Drawing inspiration from all genres of metal, tapping into the zeitgeist of doom, and prevailing dystopic worldview, they craft apocalyptic songs that couple crushing riffs with aggressive, soaring harmonies and thundering beats. Their aim is to transport the listener across time and see what they can bring back from beyond the abyss.
»Ascension« (2021), the epic follow-up to Direlands first EP »The Cave You Fear« showcases new elements in the band’s writing and musical process. Another self-recorded, self-released effort lands a juggernaut of heavy riffs, blasting beats and vicious vocals. The thematic influences continue their path to apocalypse with a focus on the technology revolution.
Moments of sludge, doom and thrash are juxtaposed with a flare of progressive metal and heavy blues. The album does an excellent job as it ebbs and flows breathing new life into the sonic journey that is Direlands: »Ascension«.
