Jorogumo is a sludge/death metal band hailing from Glasgow, Scotland.

Formed in 2017, they are known for a fluid lineup with key members being Adam (guitar), Grant (vocals), and formerly Gabi (drums).

Following »Rot« EP (2021), Jorogumo released their debut full-length album »Babylon« in October 2025. Recorded and mixed by Kevin Hare at Deep Storm Studios. Mastered by Mark Midgley at Northern Mastering Co. Artwork created by G.J. Gardiner. Logo designed by Mark Wallace at Custom Inc Tattoos.

Can you please say a few words about your band?
Like a Jorogumo, we are a sexy but volatile, shape-shifting beast. Our music tries to cherry pick from lots of different styles across the heavy spectrum. We don’t think we’re cheating by sleeping around with different subgenres!

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Basically keeping going. I read somewhere that creativity is 99% perspiration, 1% inspiration and that definitely applies to us – we’ve overcome a lot of different obstacles and different members coming and going. Also Its easy enough to come up with a killer riff or song idea but much harder to make 5 people go along with it without open warfare being declared! Any band who exists for 10+ years without a murder happening deserves a knighthood.

What can you be most proud of so far?
Again, keeping going. As much as being in a band is chaotic, its also really rewarding when you see the riffs go on a journey from; idea in your head and fingers, to thrashing it out into a song with the other guys, to then recording it, and finally tearing the audience a new one when we play it live – I fucking live for that man. It’s also rewarding that when you have bust ups with your band mates that you have the communication skills and insight to compromise a bit to keep things respectful and moving forward.

What was your biggest regret?
Not too many regrets but basically I think we all collectively regret and weep over not playing shows completely naked – audiences need to see our torsos flopping around like a dropped lasagne.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Maybe Belterfest a few years ago where we got called the sexiest band.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Maybe Belterfest where we got called the sexiest band – I mean have you seen us? We look like male models… for a campaign that urges women not to leave their drinks unattended!

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Revocation’s »New Gods, New Masters«
»Nomad« by Glasgow band Pict
Blood Incantation’s »Absolute Elsewhere«

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Be yourself, everyone else is taken

What are your guilty pleasures?
For Grant its Krispy Kreme donuts and all things sugary – we actually don’t mind that its slowly rotting his teeth all to hell and giving him type 2 diabetes as it makes him howl like a woman in labour. For Gabi and Marcello they are constantly fighting about whether Spain or Italy (where they’re from) have the best cuisine. Adam Castle is a total gearhead and maybe has a bit of GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) and for me I love junk food and whiskey – they make such a good soup together!

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Scotland?
Scotland has a great heavy scene – anyone interested in seeing what bands there are should check out Kevvy Metal and Paul Macmillan’s Slow Dragon Music to see all the different bands (us included) who played through the different heats of the Metal To The Masses competition.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Next two gigs are; supporting French band Ni in Glasgow at the Attic on March 12th and in Aberdeen on an all-dayer called Granite Fest at the Tunnels on March 28th.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Record the next EP/album and try and tour around the UK and Ireland! We’ve been based in Scotland for so long, its time we go infect other people’s earholes.

How can people best support your band?
Buy our EP »Rot« and our album »Babylon« on Bandcamp: jorogumo.bandcamp.com.

Listen to us on whatever streaming platform works for you!

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Just that they get out there and support live music – it really is the only thing that keeps the underground scene from imploding. I know that in our age of convenience everyone can just sit at home, insulate and isolate themselves and live on the internet but life is for living man so get the fuck out of the gaff, roll up a fatty or drink a slab ‘o cans and get down to support local bands!
