Doomed Confessionary: Aksel, Sebastian, Frederik & Jesper (Center Of The Earth)

Center Of The Earth is a psychedelic stoner/doom metal band hailing from Tikøb, Denmark.
With their new EP »As Above, So Below«, released in February 2025, the band returns to their heavy roots, where fuzz-laden grooves and hellish ambience reign supreme. Their second album »Mars« diverted into a more psychedelic/stoner rock vibe. This EP brings back the crushingly slow, jazzy chaos of their first record »Tolkion«.
Center Of The Earth are Aksel Brammer (drums), Sebastian Wilsleff (bass), Frederik Holm (guitar, vocals) and Jesper Laugmann (guitar, vocals).
Can you say a few words about your band?
We are four very good old friends. We go low, we go slow. We’ve been playing this band for a little over 10 years now, and started off mainly jamming together until our jams took form into our now +10 minute doom epics.. We write songs about doomsday prophecies, Witches and Wizards and everything esoteric and fantasy.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
We have been playing for over 10 years, we all have full time jobs and have moved rehearsal spaces many times. The biggest challenge has been finding time to play and a place to play. Furthermore the quest for heavy tones is an never ending endeavour for all of us.
What can you be most proud of so far?
The release of »Tolkion« on vinyl was the milestone that relly cemented what our sound is, befor that we had no real direction as to how we sounded as a band in terms of sonic qualityandsong structure. We come from different musical background – putting it into stone was a great feeling! Being a diy band especially. Learning and finding is a great time!
What was your biggest regret?
“I’ve lost many battles and even more days but If I had to do it over I’d do it just the sam” – Niel Fallon
And using Blackstar amps.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We had the pleasure of playing a couple of churches – no relations. The clerk got fired… Big long rooms, in general, really goes with the volume of our sound.
Playing the stages at Elværket Helsingør, through the years, has been an all out pleasure too.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Everybody we meet are so fucking nice, What’s up with that?! Meeting such a dedicated and rare fanbase, that this genre has, only makes us want to delve deeper!
Much love.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
At the practice space: Egypt, Opeth, Suma, Elder, Clutch… and this dude always puts on fucking Bloodbath!
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
“Play it like that time I bootleged it, cropped it, and used it for my yoga class.” – Fan before a show, describing how slow he wanted it to be.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Getting fucked up on a weekday.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Tikøb / Denmark?
We don’t know, it seems pretty dead. Or maybe we are dead? We heard that Sweden is really getting at it!
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Elværket, Helsingør-Denmark. We are so ready for anything though.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Keep doing what we do best; write kickass riffs and be all out of gum.
How can people best support your band?
Donate on Bandcamp, put on our songs when you flash through music with your peers.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you so much for spending your precious time on our music. Every single one of you makes this journey worth the toil!
