Goriška Brda region in Slovenia may be known for the largest wine cellar or a fairytale landscape with rolling hills but not so much for sludge/post-metal noisemakers Goragorja. Composed by guitarist Sergej Pojavnik (ex-Haron), drummer Tomaž Abram (ex-Haron) and bassist Andraž Zlobec (Hellcrawler, Samomor, ex-Evenrain, ex-Elodea), Goragorja released their latest album »Akarma« in February 2019, which was recorded & mixed by Janez Zega and mastered by legendary James Plotkin.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Goragorja is an anti-social power trio from the hilly wineland of Brda region, a hidden corner of Western Slovenia. Musically we slip from the most chuggy and agressive riffs to more atmospheric and melodic parts.
What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
To mix our new album. We had a specific sound in mind and didn’t stop until we achieved it.
What can you be most proud of this year?
We have finally recorded the new album and we are very proud of it.
What was your biggest regret?
That we did not include on this album all the ideas we have been grinding in our head.
What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
Metaldays festival 2024, because it was the only gig we had in 2023.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
We are old enough that nothing can surprise us anymore. Many good albums were released in 2023, yet nothing stunning that left us breathless.
Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
Follow us on Instagram and you will find out.
What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We plan to release our new album in early 2024 and sporadically play some gigs.
How can people best support your band?
Go to our Bandcamp page and support us the way you want or check us out live.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
If you already like us we hope the new album will blow your mind. And if you still don’t know our music, give our songs a spin or two 😉
