Doomed Confessionary: Ben Salomon (Slowrepeat)

How to start a day? Let’s try with a brand new interview…

Slowrepeat is a doom/stoner metal trio from Israel, formed by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Ben Salomon.

The band is currently gearing up to release their new album »Abra Cannabra« on January 4th, 2024 via Herby Records. The album’s singles »U N Eye« and »Desert« are already available for streaming on all major platforms.

Can you say a few words about the band?
The band started as a one-man project which is me and after the recording of the debut EP I decided to start performing and added musicians and during the time I met Yair (drums) and Shai (bass) and since then we formed the current lineup.

What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
The challenge was writing the album while changing the musicians in the band. But despite the challenge and the deadline for releasing the album we managed to get together and record it.

What are you most proud of this year?
I’m proud of our album »Abra Cannabra« that sounds better than we expected and for that I thank our friend Craig Lauinger for making it happen.

What was your biggest regret?
That we were not able to set off a bigger Stoner Fest as we planned with bands from Europe, but it happened due to the current situation and we hope that it will happen at the next festival.

What was the best concert/tour of the year and why?
Our performance at Stoner Fest 2 last August, the Stoner Fest is a production that I’m putting together soon for the third time.

What was the biggest surprise in the music scene for you?
The Italian guys Wizard Master simply amazed us with their latest album »Ablanathanalba« which is simply explosive doom metal and i hope to share the stage with them again sometime.

Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
This January at Stoner Fest 3 in Wunderbar Haifa together with The Great Machine, Stash and more… A launch show for our album on January 12th in Levontin Tel-Aviv and later this year we plan to perform in Austin, Texas.

What are your plans for next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
To release a new album and perform at Desert Fest in Germany and other festivals in Europe.

How can people best support your band?
You can purchase merchandise, physical and digital music at Bandcamp and also come to our shows.

Do you have a message for your listeners?
Yeah, music is a direct channel to the soul, don’t pollute it and try to always be good people!
