Doomed Confessionary: Bob Antul (Jawless)

Let’s see what stoner/doom/heavy metal trio Jawless from Bandung, Indonesia has to say! Jawless just dropped a brand new EP »The Wrath King« on December 1st, 2023 via Hawar Press, available now in digital format.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Okay, we are a band that plays stoner/doom/heavy metal. We are inspired by bands like High On Fire, The Sword, Megadeth, and Motörhead. Our current members are Toni on bass and vocals, Yudha on lead guitar, and Bob on guitar. In 2022, we launched an album entitled »Warrizer«. At that time, we released it in cassette and digital on Bandcamp. Currently, the »Warrizer« album can be heard on all digital music platforms.
What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
Our biggest challenge this year, especially for each member, is to be able to keep dividing time between regular work and completing »The Wrath King« EP, which was finally released on December 1, 2023.
What can you be most proud of this year?
We are very proud to have released »The Wrath King«. Although this is only an EP, in terms of results, we are all satisfied. We hope that the listeners will like all the tracks in »The Wrath King«.
What was your biggest regret?
Our biggest regret lies in the process of completing the »Warrizer« album last year, because we still feel that until now the final results of the album were not satisfying, especially in terms of mixing and mastering, but from that album we learned many important lessons for our future work.
What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
To be honest, in 2023, we didn’t get many opportunities to perform at gigs. Maybe because there are not many Doom/Stoner music listeners in our city or country, underground music in our city is still dominated by hardcore music.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
In 2023, there are many new bands in our city and many of them play the doom/stoner genre and they have released their songs in 2023.
The bands are: Hakkon, Malfiore, Anemosdesma and Moremyrk.
Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
Maybe next year we’ll still perform in our hometown of Bandung, Indonesia.
What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We’d like to continue the full album process next year, as we’ve recorded some material and need to make some new material to complete the full album. The next full-length album will probably be a lot different in terms of musical scale, so stay tuned.
How can people best support you?
You can purchase our digital tracks on Bandcamp, and don’t miss out on »The Wrath King« cassette in January 2024.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Hopefully our listeners can enjoy our music more, especially for our latest EP, »The Wrath King«. I hope you all like it.
