Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are Lungsplitter – a sacrilegious stoner sludge trio from the Great Lakes. All Hail In-Hale.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Navigating the local scene through all the musicians also trying to make music to find a group that meshes well and all bring something unique to the overall sound of Lungsplitter.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Our recently released EP! Huge shoutout to Dan K at Chipped Tooth Audio who helped us turn these four songs into a sonically massive record.
What was your biggest regret?
Not doing this sooner. Play the music you want to hear!
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Our goal was to start with a solid recording before playing live. We are currently in the process of booking live events for summer and fall of this year in and around the U.S. midwest.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
We didn’t expect the doom community to be so tight knit and supportive. We have been shown so much love since our recent release and cannot thank everyone enough who listened or shared our music. Can’t wait to share the room/stage with some of you!
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
That’s a hard question, we’re kind of all over the musical spectrum with our taste. A few records we’ve been listening to recently include:
Bryan:
Black Nail – discography 2016-2017
Preoccupations »Ill At Ease«
Bill Withers – »Justments«
Ethan:
Dark Throne – »A Blaze In The Northern Sky«
Bongzilla – »Amerijuanican«
Humanities Last Breath – »Ashen«
Mat:
Thorr’s Hammer – »Dommedagsnatt«
Bell Witch – »Demo 2011«
Nadja – »Queller«
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Don’t get caught chasing perfection.
What are your guilty pleasures?
I think we all like the classically hated dad rock bands of the early 2000’s like Staind and Puddle of Mudd. Ethan proudly reps ICP. We also all like all types of metal and other heavy music.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Chicago?
Love seeing all the DIY venues and new bands popping up. Everyone is so hungry to experience great live music and have all come together to support each other. Whether its trading shows or coming together to enforce safe spaces, the local scene here shows up.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We haven’t set any dates yet but will post them on our Bandcamp and socials as soon as we get some shows scheduled. Feel free to reach out to book us at lungsplitterband@gmail.com!
What are your plans for the future as a band?
We want to play live shows, write a heavier and longer record, and get the chance to do some runs of physical copies.
How can people best support your band?
Listen and share our music! Merch coming soon and hopefully some live events.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen to our music. This has been a wonderful journey so far and we are just getting started. Feel free to reachout to us on our socials or email!
