Doomed Confessionary: Chris Vieira (The Red Crow)

The Red Crow is a stoner metal trio based out of Lisbon, Portugal. Founded in 2013 in Porto Alegre, Brazil, The Red Crow quickly paved their way to success in their home country. This success led them to share the stage with notable bands like Fuzzly and Mars Red Sky. The band’s journey took a significant turn when Christiano Vieira, the last remaining original member, moved to Portugal in 2022.

There, he decided to “reassemble” The Red Crow under their current name. Since relocating, The Red Crow has performed over 30 concerts across Portugal, steadily building a dedicated and growing fan base. Their ambition and undeniable talent position them as a standout name in the alternative underground scene.

The Red Crow’s debut album, »Spellbound«, is an intense journey through existential dread and the supernatural. Blending the crushing riffs and hypnotic grooves of stoner metal, this record explores themes of alienation, inner turmoil, and apocalyptic chaos – all laced with eerie tales of zombies, aliens, and demons. »Spellbound« was released on January 12th, 2025 via SODEH Records.

The Red Crow are Christiano Vieira (guitars, vocals), Luan Spaiva (bass) and Gustavo Ferreira (drums).

Can you say a few words about your band?
We are The Red Crow, a stoner metal band that blends crushing riffs with existential dread, sprinkled with zombies, aliens, and demons. Our music is heavy, hypnotic, and packed with dark, atmospheric storytelling.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Getting our debut album »Spellbound« out there was a massive challenge. Balancing production, promotion, and live shows while staying true to our sound was tough, but totally worth it.

What can you be most proud of so far?
Definitely »Spellbound«. The reception has been incredible, and seeing people connect with the music we poured our souls into is surreal.

What was your biggest regret?
Maybe not pushing our music harder on international platforms earlier. But we’re making up for lost time now!

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Our album release show in Madrid, Spain, was insane – seeing the crowd vibe with our songs for the first time live was unforgettable. The energy was unreal!

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
How supportive the stoner/doom/sludge scene is. It’s a tight-knit community where bands genuinely support each other instead of competing.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
A lot of The Sword, Red Fang, Gnome, Down, and some classic Kyuss. Also diving into some riffy stuff lately.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
“Do it because you love it. The moment you do it for anything else, you lose the fire. And, put your soul into the music you make, and don’t sell it for free.”

What are your guilty pleasures?
80s horror movies, absurd conspiracy theories, and maybe a bit of Brazillian music. (don’t tell anyone 😉 ).

Can you say something more about the current music scene in Lisbon?
It’s growing! Stoner and doom are finally getting more recognition, and there’s a solid underground movement with killer bands pushing the genre forward.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We’re planning more shows to promote »Spellbound«, and hopefully, we’ll hit some festivals soon. A European tour? A south America tour? Or maybe a north America tour??? Stay tuned for dates!

What are your plans for the future as a band?
More music, more gigs, and pushing our sound even further. Maybe some collaborations with other heavy bands too.

How can people best support your band?
Stream and buy »Spellbound«, buy our merch, share our music, and come headbang with us at shows. Every bit of support helps!

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you for being part of this journey. Stay heavy, stay weird, and let’s summon some demons together.
