Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas based heavy psych/doom metal trio Temptress certainly thrives on intensity.
Founded in early 2019, Temptress released a self-titled EP five months after their first practice session and has maintained an impressive pace ever since. The group has built a die-hard fan base, released their first full-length album, »See«, in 2023 via Metal Assault Records, earned praise from the heavy press for their genre-gliding music, and boasts a remarkable history of live performances supporting legendary acts and emerging talent in the heavy music scene. They have also finished writing and recording their sophomore album.
Temptress are Kelsey Wilson (guitar, vocals), Andi Cuda (drums, vocals) and Christian Wright (bass, vocals).
Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are lifers that have given up everything for rock n’ roll.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Past: Covid era, hands down.
Present: Tour booking is extremely time consuming.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Personal and professional growth and longevity.
What was your biggest regret?
No regrets, only solutions.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Each tour keeps getting better and better with time. I would say our most recent trek through New England w/ a few Canada dates. The crowds were very supportive, we played alongside some truly amazing bands and heaps of industry folk came out as attendees. Needless to say we made a lot of new fans, friends and contacts. 13 shows, 3 repeat markets, 10 new markets.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The amount of support available to those who seek it out.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
This week: Axioma, Knub, Consumer Culture, Rwake, Thunderchief, Mammoth Grinder.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Be brutally honest, grateful & seize opportunity. Trust your gut instinct.
What are your guilty pleasures?
The Grateful Dead, Antiques Roadshow, sliced apples w/ peanut butter, a good book.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in your area?
I am still navigating it as a recent transplant to Greensboro, NC. I have been to one show in Greensboro, my dear friends Friendship Commanders and 5 shows total in the Piedmont triad area since moving here (Holyroller, Horseburner, Baroness/Red Fang, Mastodon/Lamb Of God). I will learn more as time passes. Temptress did start last tour in Chapel Hill recently @ Local 506, a room I had not been to in decades. It was fun and brought back memories.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We will have a new record out sometime this year and are currently planning fall/winter tours in the lower 48.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
The endless cycle of write, record, press, release, rinse, rest, repeat…Tour, tour, tour…
How can people best support your band?
Come to shows, bring a friend and buy merch. Share our content with friends and family and engage with us on our various platforms.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you, we love you and are eternally grateful. Without you we would be nothing and would not be able to do what we do. Be well and we hope to see you soon.
