Doomed Confessionary: Cseni & George (Stone Sober)

Stone Sober is a two-piece psychedelic garage rock band from Budapest, Hungary. Founded in 2021, the duo consists of Cseni Kubik (drums, vocals) and György Urbán (guitar, vocals). Built around drums and guitar, their sound blends raw energy with hypnotic riffs, heavy grooves, and freaky vocal textures – both male and female. Their music often plays with unusual time signatures while staying grounded in gritty, riff-driven rock. Their flamboyant stage presence, complete with flared trousers and vintage-inspired outfits, radiates a bold ‘70s aesthetic that echoes their sonic roots.

Despite their compact lineup, Stone Sober has already released three full-length LPs, continuing to write and record with fearless creativity. Their momentum has led to key milestones like being support act for Mother Mother, Brant Bjork Trio and Wolfmother, showcase invitations to various international festivals and their first European tour.

Can you please say a few words about your band?
Stone Sober is a Hungarian psychedelic garage rock drum and guitar duo founded in 2021. Our sound is all about a raw and straight-to-the-point approach, riff-driven heavy grooves, and freaky vocal sounds, both male and female.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We’re really proud of some of the support slots we’ve had, opening for bands like Brant Bjork Trio, Wolfmother, and Mother Mother.

Where can we see you live soon (concerts/tours)?
We’re currently in the middle of our “Insane Hacks Tour”, and the next stop will be in Graz, Austria. Then comes the most exciting part of the tour, when we’ll travel around Europe, including Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France and Croatia. Can’t wait, it’s going to be great fun!

How can people best support your band?
If they attend our shows, that’s probably the best way to support the band. If someone’s already there, there’s always some time to chat a little after the concert, around the merch table. Buying merch is also a great option, so we’re working on our items to make them as exciting as possible, with colored and splattered vinyls, different T-shirt graphics, signature drumsticks and guitar picks, etc. But if someone can’t make it to a gig, supporting us online through Bandcamp is always an option.
