Metallus is an epic doom metal trio hailing from Warsaw, Poland. Founded in 2018, Metallus consists of Hell’s Mage (guitar, vocals), Doom Lord (bass, vocals) and War Drum (drums).
The band released their second full-length album »We’re All Doomed« on March 21st, 2025. Produced by Paweł Dek (Truchło Strzygi, Morthus). Artwork by Maciek Wewiór. »We’re All Doomed« is available now on CD and all digital streaming platforms.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
Doom Lord: If music is a sound of gods making love then Metallus is barbaric orgy on Valhalla.
Hell’s Mage: Our motto is to be as slow as a mountain, as monumental as a cathedral and as epic as Conan’s biceps.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Doom Lord: Not to die… Specially during the road to Get Wasted And Be Doomed festival in southern Germany. I was totally sick and I was vomiting all the way but I resurrected two hours before the show. So i made all in oposite way cause I was doomed before I got wasted.
Hell’s Mage: I’d also add: organizing a doom themed concert, which we have done a few times now (with few more on the horizon). In January we organized Riders Of Doom in Warsaw with 4 more doom metal bands. It was quite a challange but it was worth every second of it.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Doom Lord: Great thing is that we’re just three friends from Warsaw city and some people from Australia, Chile or England enjoy our music.
Hell’s Mage: The thing that I’m the most proud of is that with each show more and more people start to sing along as we play, recognizing the lyrics and melodies. That’s absolutely amazing.
What was your biggest regret?
Doom Lord: That we didn’t have a chance to play on Keep It True… yet.
Hell’s Mage: Being born (laughs).
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Doom Lord: Helicon Metal Festival in Poland, very true metal oriented. The premiere of our second album We’re All Doomed took place there on that day. Riders Of Doom in Warsaw and Get Wasted And Be Doomed in Leonberg. So many awesome bands, friends and music on both festivals. No one expected that much laughter and jokes from the doomed ones.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Hell’s Mage: That doom metal bands are a true brotherhood, that was to me the biggest takeaway from when we went to Get Wasted And Be Doomed. Everyone were so kind to each other and you could truely feel that we are all there for the same cause.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Doom Lord: Vanilla Fudge and Black Sabbath.
Hell’s Mage: Lots of stuff that changes everyday pretty much. Been revisitng the early Atomic Rooster albums lately and Samson from the Bruce Dickinson era. As for doom… as I’m writing this down I’ve got Trouble’s »The Skull« blasting in the background.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Doom Lord: Maybe not an advice but light of wisdom on our path to glory… Once I told almighty Mark Shelton from Manilla Road that I have similar riff to his from last LP. We were looking in the same stars my friend – he replied and looked into the night sky…
What are your guilty pleasures?
Doom Lord: Spreading doom with a smile. I mean incorporating humor into dark and slow music. For example, there’s a vision of heavy armored moomin army…
Hell’s Mage: Watching cheap B-movies from the 80’s and 70’s, especially horror. And sometimes that can be inspiring too – »Brides Of Dracula« was inspired directly by the film from the Hammer Studios.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Warsaw / Poland?
Doom Lord: New Wave Of Polish Doom Metal is the answer – trinity of CrossRoad, Rosary and Metallus is doom power.
Hell’s Mage: Don’t forget Evangelist and Monasterium, arguably the two most important doom acts from Poland so far.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Hell’s Mage: Come to Poland and get doomed! We’ll be touring throughout the country for the rest of the year probably.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Doom Lord: Spread doom with a smile…
Hell’s Mage: Record as much stuff as we possibly can, we have loads of material.
How can people best support your band?
Doom Lord: By letting the promoters know about Metallus and inviting us on festivals.
Hell’s Mage: And sending us money (laughs).
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Doom Lord: Seems we’re all living in doomed nation cause we’re all doomed!
Hell’s Mage: Life is an unrelenting nightmare and we are drops of water in the sea… so you might as well spend this time listening to Metallus, ’cause why the hell not!?
