Void Era is an alternative/heavy rock band that was formed in Athens, Greece in 2018. The founding members are Elia Tsara on vocals and guitars, and John Levojohn on bass. Shortly after, with Kostas Tsaras on drums, they released their first EP titled »The Way It Starts« in 2019. The band’s lineup was later strengthened with the addition of guitarist Theofanis Mavropanos.
Void Era’s debut album »Guilt« was released on March 1st, 2024. The album’s lyrics are all about the strong emotions and experiences you go through when you’re trying to break free from feeling trapped or stuck in your thoughts. It’s like a journey of change, and it’s a bit of an emotional rollercoaster.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Void Era is an alternative/heavy rock band from Athens, Greece. Our debut album, »Guilt«, blends different rock styles like post-punk and melodic-atmospheric blues rock across nine tracks, offering a mix of emotions and sounds.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
One of our biggest challenges is keeping the band together over the years while ensuring everyone’s musical tastes are represented in our songs.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Firstly, this question is answered in the previous one, as the challenges we face often lead to moments we’re proud of! Additionally, I’m proud of some genuine and heartfelt musical moments on »Guilt«. Secondly, regarding the new material we’re working on, it feels like we’re venturing into new artistic paths.
What was your biggest regret?
If I had to pick a regret, it would probably be hurrying up our work because I always want our band to create something without being patient enough!

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
It’s hard to choose a favorite when each one brings new experiences. So I tell myself that the best show is always the last one!
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
It’s surprising how quickly new songs appear online these days. It seems like there’s always something new to discover.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Currently, I’m enjoying artists like Annabel Lee, The Pilgrim, Wilt, and Gaupa. They’re on regular rotation in my Spotify playlist.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
The best advice I’ve received is to keep playing the guitar, no matter what happens!
What are your guilty pleasures?
Food definitely is the one that I can share with you!
Can you say something more about the music scene in Athens / Greece?
The Greek music scene is flourishing with talented bands – we would be proud if we could be part of it! – despite the numerous challenges it faces, including financial. However, there is a growing support system from various groups of people, festivals, and of course, the audience, that are helping the spread of their music.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We’re in the process of arranging some gigs!
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Our main goals right now are to share and promote our first album, »Guilt«, and to line up some gigs. Of course, we’re always working on new material too.
