Mist is a doom metal band hailing from Ljubljana, Slovenia.

In 2018, Mist released their debut full-length album »Free Me Of The Sun« via cult Dutch label Soulseller Records. Staying true to their traditional doom roots the band builds upon strong riffs with memorizable female vocals and epic guitar solos. The album was recorded, produced and mixed by Benjamin Kic (Metalsteel) and mastered by Patrick W. Engel (Candlemass, Pentagram, Darkthrone, Exodus) from Temple of Disharmony. The band is currently working on two new singles, which will see the light during 2024.

Can you say a few words about your band?
We’re a doom band from Ljubljana, Slovenia. We mostly come from a traditional-doom background, but we make and play our music based on our current feeling and state. Our full-length album »Free Me Of The Sun« is a great representation of our collective music composition.

What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
A challenge and a blessing has been welcoming Nina’s first baby, as we missed Nina for a few months, but we got to take some time to work on our new material and also meet the newest member of our Mist family!

What can you be most proud of this year?
We started to record two singles this year and are super proud of Nina who did her vocals just two weeks before giving birth! You can imagine it was difficult, but she made it work and we could spend some quality time with her before she took her well-deserved time off.

What was your biggest regret?
No real regrets, it was a great, laid-back and creative year – we do wish to finish the two singles as soon as possible but are accepting that things move at their own pace.

What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
We played one gig this year in Ljubljana which was a great final show before our break, however some of us did have the chance to visit some festivals without playing there which is also great – to support the scene and be unbothered at the shows.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Three of us visited the Desertfest festival in London where we saw around 15 shows and got to experience the real variety of the doom genre in the span of a few days. It was such an incredible experience but by far our favourite show was Mars Red Sky, just the epitome of slow and heavy riffs – perfection!

Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
In 2024 we have two concerts booked so far – March in Ljubljana and in August we plan on returning to Belgium, which holds a special place in our hearts, so we are very excited!

What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We will be focusing on finishing up the two singles that we started in 2023 and then continue working on a full-length album.

How can people best support your band?
By far our favourite way of interacting with people is meeting at shows but since we are pausing a bit at the time just listen to our music, follow our channels for updates and we’ll see you when we see you! We are also open to new gigs in the coming year, so feel free to send us an email if you are looking for some slow heavy music.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
After more than 10 years with Mist we are so grateful for any and all people who still show up, listen to our music, book shows and buy our merch. Thank you! And Bojan thank you as well, for supporting our band through the years – you are the OG!!
