Doomed Confessionary: Flo, Chris & Richard (Hidas)

Hidas from Munich, Germany is not a band of big words. With their unique blend of doom, stoner, black and groove metal, they are telling their audience everything they need to know, even without any lyrics.
The three band members have been making music together for many years and have a wealth of experience in the music business. Hidas was founded in 2023 and is therefore still quite new to the scene. At the end of 2023, the band self-released their eponymous debut. The band plans to play live extensively and is already booked for the upcoming Keep It Low Festival in 2025.
Hidas have signed with Tonzonen Records for the release of their new album, which is planned for January 2026.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are an instrumental doom metal band from Munich, Germany. The band is a trio, consisting of Flo (guitars), Chris (drums) and Richard (bass). We founded in early 2023 but have been making music together for many, many years.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Hard to say, honestly. Everything has been going pretty smoothly for us lately. Costs of acquiring new gear always pose a challenge… 😀
What can you be most proud of so far?
Having landed a record deal with Tonzonen Records, that is beneficial to both parties.
And being in the line up for this year’s Keep It Low Festival.
What was your biggest regret?
No fucking regrets, man! 😀
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
To be honest, every concert it gets better and better! So far, the latest concert is always the best.
Currently, it was our gig at Chaos Blast @ Free & Easy Festival – people cheering our name, incredible feeling. As an instrumental act with no mic on stage, we are only able to connect with our audience through our music and body language/stage presence. It’s amazing to see that it also works this way.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Since we have been in bands for 25+ years, there are no big surprises, at least not at our level.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Flo: Bob Dylan – »Blonde on Blonde«.
Chris: Sons Of Apollo – everything.
Richard: Death – »Symbolic«.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
To just do what you want to do and not to cater to other people’s expectations.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Flo: Just pleasure, no guilt.
Chris: Studying people and their social behavior.
Richard: Reciting Nietzsche in the bath tub.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Munich?
Hard questions, since we’re not really ‘scene guys’ and are just starting to really connect with our local scene through this band. But everyone in Munich’s scene has been very kind and supportive. Also from other scenes outside Munich, to be honest everybody is just cool, nice and supportive. 🙂

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Releasing more music and playing more awesome shows. So, the usual 😀
