It seems that I would have to post at least 2 interviews per day because there is such a huge interest. Thanks again to everybody for your participation!
The second band for today is blackened death/doom metal trio GREH from Karlsruhe, Germany who released their latest EP »Reversion Of The Repressed« in March 2023. All their songs are available on Bandcamp for pay-what-you-want.
Can you say a few words about your band?
GREH is a metal project that has already matured into a permanent band. We play a dark and minimalistic sound with only one guitar, drums and vocals, which manages to create its own character, combining sorrow and heaviness with groove and dissonance. Briefly about us: Monne (drums), Martin (vocals) and me Gero (guitar) and we play a blackened death doom metal.
What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
It wasn’t a big challenge because we had a lot of fun organizing the concerts. It was also a great adventure for us to travel to the places and play loud metal music for the audience. Actually, we had a great time all together in 2023. At this point, many thanks to all visitors to our concerts.
What can you be most proud of this year?
In fact, I’m very proud that our live shows went as well as we imagined. It was a lot of work to put together the 45min set. We were pleased that the shows were well received and celebrated by the audience.
What is your biggest regret?
What a pity that we had to cancel the concert in Maribor, Slovenia and the concert in Split, Croatia. Unfortunately, there was no other way because one of our band members had a small operation on her hand. We will make up for these shows one day – the music and the party.
What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
Puhhhhh, man! There were so many wonderful moments that we look back on fondly. The show in Prague was very wild and the party afterwards with the visitors was unforgettable. Prague is also a very beautiful city. The concert in Cologne was also unforgettable because it was sold out and the audience went wild until the last second.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
I was very pleasantly surprised that the music scene in metal is very open to other music, especially our music, because we only play with one guitar. It really reinforced my belief that I’m on the right track with this project.
Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
In 2024 we will play a lot in Germany and have a few shows in neighboring countries. We are currently working on new shows for 2024, waiting for the dates to be confirmed by the promoters. I think that the dates will be published around January 2024.
What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We are currently recording eight new songs. In 2024 we will release some as singles and some as EPs. If everything goes well, we will find a good label that would release the music physically for us. Personally, I would be very happy to get a few slots at big metal festivals. There are some in discussion, we’ll see if that works out for us in 2024. It’s important to me that there will be a lot of new music for the fans in 2024.
How can people best support your band?
The best way to support GREH is to listen to our music often. At the moment it’s only possible digitally on all streaming providers. You can also support us a lot if you visit us at our live shows and have a great time with us.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
My message is actually a very big thank you to all the listeners and fans who have listened to GREH a lot live or digitally in 2023. Your loyalty means a lot to us. Stay loyal to us, because there will be new material for you soon, you metal addicts!
