Doomed Confessionary: Hannes, Jon, Andi & Jan (Capacopter)
Capacopter is a four-piece stoner rock band from Mannheim and Frankfurt, Germany.
Capacopter stand for heavy, straight-up stoner rock: roaring amps, orange tolex, downtuned guitars and hard-hitting drums. Their sound fuses the relentless rock of the 70s with modern, detail-driven songwriting – packed with gripping hooks, massive riffs and unexpected finesse.
Formed in 2021, Hannes (lead vocals, guitar), Andi (bass, vocals), Jan (drums) and Jon (guitar) began with loose jams that gradually turned into songs, shows and a sound that stuck. After several singles, EPs and around 50 live shows, the band released their self-titled debut album »Capacopter« in January 2026, reaching #2 on the international Doom Charts.
With their latest single »The Capadillo«, released in May 2026, Capacopter opens the next chapter. The second album »Chalk & Concrete« is scheduled for release in 2027 via Tonzonen Records.
Can you please say a few words about your band?
We are Capacopter. Four guys from Mannheim and Frankfurt playing stoner rock. We released our debut album in 2026 and have been playing as many shows as possible since. Album number two will be released via Tonzonen Records in 2027.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Finding our own sound and getting some traction. It took some time to figure out what Capacopter should sound and feel like. Now this has become our strength. We know what we want and feel 100 percent comfortable with it.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Our debut album. It reached number #2 in the international Doom Charts. Suddenly we were shipping vinyl and CDs all over the world. Pretty surreal….WTF!
What was your biggest regret?
No real regrets. Maybe we should have found each other in this exact lineup in Mannheim ten years earlier. 😀 But things happen when they are supposed to happen…right?
What was the best concert or tour so far and why?
Rock im Wald Festival. Our first time playing in front of a big festival crowd. People were singing our songs, which felt completely absurd. We got tons of great feedback and they almost emptied our merch stand afterwards.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
No big suprises. It kicks ass. Sometimes its sad.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
The Heavy Eyes, Greenleaf, Kryptograf and Slomosa. And plenty of stuff in and outside stoner rock.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Just do it….wait that was Nike? Nah for real: JUST DO IT.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Buying way more gear than we actually need. And always finding a good reason why we need even more.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Mannheim?
Our roots are in Mannheim and the Rhine Neckar area. There are great bands, small clubs and promoters keeping the scene alive. The heavy underground in Germany is very connected. You meet people again, discover new bands and make friends along the way.

We are playing shows across Germany throughout the rest of 2026. All dates are at capacopter.de.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Album number two. »Chalk & Concrete« will be released in March 2027 via Tonzonen Records. New singles and videos are coming before that. Lots of shows too. Summer Breeze 2027 is already confirmed.
