Doomed Confessionary: Ivan & Ruth (Greengoat)
Greengoat is a psychedelic stoner/doom metal band from Madrid (Spain), that combines distortion and rhythmic progressions with immersive sequences and oneiric landscapes. Formed in 2021, the band undergoes changes in its ensemble until it consolidates as a duo with guitarist/singer Ivan Flores (Dsgarre, Magnus Ficus) and drummer Ruth “Kalypso” Moya (Suevicha, Dashara, Magnus Ficus).
Greengoat’s debut full-length album »A.I.« is set for release on January 26th, 2024 via Argonauta Records.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Hi, we are Greengoat, a stoner doom band from Spain. Thanks a lot for this interview.
What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
We think our biggest challenge has been going from four members to two and be able to maintain the same strength when playing live. We feel very proud of the outcome and the great welcome we have had of this new ensemble.
What can you be most proud of this year?
Maybe about our album. How we feel about it, the depth of the lyrics, the sound that we have been able to achieve (thanks to working also with the amazing California Studios that understand us so well) and the amazing support people is giving us in everything we create.
What was your biggest regret?
Actually nothing! We havve made some mistakes but you always learn something from them so even errors are valuable.
What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
We couldn’t choose! They have all been amazing. We have had the chance of meeting amazing people, great bands and great places too. Live music is the best part of this no doubt.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Tool inviting Elder to play with them! We love both bands and it was a great surprise to see this combination. That might be a dream show to attend!

Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
We will start touring February 3rd 2024 in Seville and then we have some nice dates already booked for the year that we will share soon.
What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We want to spread our music as much as possible so playing all we can! We would love to start playing out of Spain as well so we hope we get the chance next year.
Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
Summon the Lord of Darkness to have him bake a nice juicy turkey in the fires of Hell and maybe sacrifice a couple of corporate sharks 😀

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Tribe! Thanks for this 2023, we still can’t believe how far our music has reached. Withought you this wouldn’t be possible. Thank you so much for being there and FUZZ ON!
