Kadavermarch is a five-piece stoner metal band from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Formed in 2020, the band features members of Helhorse, Tudsegammelt, Total Heels, Hearteater, Czar and Illdisposed. It is in this genre mix that Kadavermarch has found its unique sound and well-defined groove. Kadavermarch are Rune (bass), Ken (guitar), Andreas (guitar, vocals), Aske (drums, vocals) and Jeppe (organ).
Kadavermarch is straight ahead in-your-face riff worship, with tons of layered heavy guitars, a screaming organ, and of course delay upon delay! The only thing that penetrates the wall of sound are the sharp enticing twin vocals.
Kadavermarch takes you all the way from the graveyard to the galaxy and beyond. The songs are a mix of pounding beats with high energy and everything turned up to 11, and on the other hand slow meditative tunes that transcends the listener to another universe, only to drag you right down in the mud again on the next track.
Their first album »Into Oblivion« was released in 2022 followed by their sophomore album – the self-titled »Kadavermarch« LP, set to be released early 2025 via Vinyltroll Records.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Jeppe: We are a desert stoner band from Copenhagen, Denmark. We have played together for 4 years, and did a record two years back. Now we are ready with the self-titled follow up, that is set to be released on March 13.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Jeppe: Hmm, good question 🙂 Maybe that we are all in the late 30’s with jobs, kids, wifs, so it can be a challenge to find time for shows 🙂
What can you be most proud of so far?
Jeppe: I’m super proud, that we have done two great albums so far. It is always a super long process to do a record, and a lot of things has to come together in order for it to work. Especially for a small DIY band, with limited resources, both time and money!
What was your biggest regret?
Jeppe: Hmm, not really anything:) I guess!
Andreas: Me neither. I think we are all pretty much on the same page as far as ambition goes. We focus on the music and not so much on all the other stuff, that you are supposed to master with a band now a days such as social media and a lot of touring. So that kind of holds us back as far as growing as band, but the most important thing for us is to make some proper music.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Jeppe: That must be one of the first shows we did at a local Moped Club, at their summer party. That was INSANE!
Andreas: Our show at Copenhagen Metal Fest 2023 was also really awesome. One of those, where you really could feel the energy in the entire room.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Jeppe: Maybe that DK metal seams to grow, also internationally, with bands like Neckbreakker and Baest.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Jeppe: I’ve been listening to some of the old The Sword and High On fire recently 🙂 And a local band called Ærkenbrand, the new record is sick!
Andreas: Greenleaf and Gatecreepers new albums are incredible. And Mastodon. And Counterparts.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Jeppe: Hmm, don’t know, but maybe that it is way better to find back to the fun of playing, rather than pleasing others’ expectations.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Jeppe: Bumbum, I really have a soft spot for classic american rock from the 70s! Eagles, Supertramps etc!
Andreas: I listen to self-help podcasts…
Can you say something more about current music scene in Copenhagen?
Jeppe: It is really doing well! A lot of great new bands, genres like death metal, black metal and a huge boost in the hardcore scene.
Where can we see you live soon (concerts/tours)?
Jeppe: Yes, we will play a few shows when we release the new record!
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Jeppe: We will put out this record, and play shows. We also have outlined an EP, that could be finished and put out in 2026, who knows?
Andreas: I really hope to play some smaller festivals, where the crowd is right. That’s something I really like about the genre we play – it’s pretty specific.
Did you have any special plans for New Year’s Eve?
Jeppe & Andreas: Nope, chilling with the family!
How can people best support your band?
Jeppe: Spread the word, buy some merch:) If you like it, please share with friends!
Andreas: What He said.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Jeppe: We hope you like the new stuff!
Andreas: We sure do!
