Doomed Confessionary: Jim Connelly (Acid Blizzard)

Acid Blizzard is a stoner/psychedelic/whatever rock band from Asturias, Spain. They debuted in May 2024 with »Sleepless«, their first EP composed of three songs that capture the energy of the band. Recorded at Kathedrale Studio (Gijón), produced by Alex Gato and Gonza Whiplash with mixing and mastering by Juan Martín van Keulen.

Acid Blizzard are Jim Connelly (vocals), Javi Prado Suarez (guitar), Nacho Arteaga Abella (guitar), Berto González Suarez (bass) and Pablo Regueiro González (drums).

Can you say a few words about your band?
We are heavily involved with our songs and enjoy rehearsing together as much as recording or gigging.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
For me, the language barrier – the band are Spanish and I am English.

What can you be most proud of so far?
Slowly overcoming the previous question!

What was your biggest regret?
No regrets mate.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Probably tonight’s show (I’m on my way there now) – it’s only our third gig.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Tbh I am a bit of a veteran but the scene in northern Spain at the moment is rather good.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Easily Chelsea Wolf I also have a soft spot for Steak (UK stoner band).

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
To listen intently.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Hmm… probably masturbation and the carpenters – sometimes both together!

Can you say something more about the music scene in Asturias / Spain?
To extend on question 6 – Spain is such a special scene mainly because they see music as an art form. In Asturias (where we live) there are a lot of medium sized festivals like Stonefest that are very cool + we have resurrection fest in the next region too. Even the little local town fiestas are fucking epic.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Well, there is talk of Toronto and Desertfest London but tbh mate I don’t even know where I am staying tonight after our gig La felguera 😉
But I can say that we will play in Xagó (Asturias) on September 27th, and in Ponferrada (Spain) on November 15th. There will be more gigs on Spain… We will anounce on social media.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
We are about to go and finish off our debut record in Gijon, Asturias and have some fucking bangers in the bag – straight up.

How can people best support your band?
Listen to us, buy a t-shirt, spread the word – we’d love to meet you!

Do you have any message for your listeners?
To listen intently 🙂
