Doomed Confessionary: Kluge, Mitransky & Pampel (Marod)

Marod is a noisy doom punk trio based in Leipzig, Germany.

The band has just released their new 7″ »Schwarze Galle« on January 30th, 2024, previously announced with a music video for B-side »Bös & Gut«.

Marod are Kluge on guitar, Mitransky on drums and Pampel on vocals.

Can you say a few words about your band?
Pampel: We’ve known each other since we were young and we had a band called Cracked Corpuscles in the ’90s.
Kluge: Over the years, Uwe (drums) and I (guitar), as the duo Boot, have continued to make our music. After more than 25 years, now as old men, we have come together again in this “marod” constellation of three.
Pampel: I just had the idea in my head to do something with Kulik’s life story. So I asked them both for help.
Mitransky: Initially we planned just an EP, but in the end a concept album came out.
Kluge: We’ve tried to find our own style before. And we didn’t base ourselves directly on other bands or styles of music. It’s the same today. Musically we are very open. In terms of content, it looks on the darker side of life.

What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
Kluge: We had to completely re-record our debut album »Kulik«. This took a lot of time, money and effort. But it was worth it. Hopefully not just for us, but also for the audience.

What can you be most proud of last year?
Kluge: Despite all adversities, we managed to release our album »Kulik«.
Mitransky: Yes, the album was the best thing this year.

What was your biggest regret?
Kluge: The attempts to understand technology…
Pampel: We didn’t care enough about ourselves.
Mitransky: We didn’t care enough about the band.

What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
Pampel: Actually we only had one concert last year.
Kluge: Since we only played 1 concert, it was the best.
Mitransky: But it was a really great and family atmosphere in our hometown.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Pampel: Placebo Domingo, a legendary, although bad, singer.
Mitransky: And no one knows what he looks like!

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Pampel: We started on January 27th in the Plaque in Leipzig.
Kluge: It was a memorial event for our friend Swen, who died 5 years ago. Our 7″ called »Schwarze Galle« also has been released on that day.
Mitransky: In any case, more concerts will follow.

What are your plans for this year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
Mitransky: We definitely want to play more live.
Kluge: And we will include our backdrop video and the background tracks live.
Pampel: I would also like to record new stuff again. An EP or something.

How can people best support your band?
Pampel: Listen to our music.
Kluge: Come to our concerts and buy our music.
Pampel: Haha, also true.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Kluge: Marod ist unsere Freiheit. Marod oder tot.
Mitransky: Marod sind unsere Knochen.
Pampel: Amen und Prost!
