I Am Low is a stoner/grunge/alternative rock power trio from Umeå, Sweden.
I Am Low was born when friends came together over a love of grunge. In the years since, the sound has continued to grow and evolve, finding a foothold between stoner rock, fuzz, doom, and their grungy roots.
In 2023, I Am Low partnered with Majestic Mountain Records for the release of third full-length album »Úma«. Their new EP »Inertia« was just released on July 25th, 2025. The vinyl edition is available as a split with Australian stoner/doom metal band Droid, out now via Majestic Mountain Records and Copper Feast Records.
I Am Low are Kristoffer Norgren (guitar and lead vocals), Anton Höög (bass guitar) and Oskar Melander (drums and backup vocals).
Can you please say a few words about your band?
We all love bands and we all grew up wanting to be in a band and write heavy songs like our idols.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Finding time for practice.
What can you be most proud of so far?
That we’re still playing after all these years and it still fun and exciting.
What was your biggest regret?
Regretting things are just a waste of time. Things that already happened, happened.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
We have played a lot of fun gigs but what comes to mind is our favorite festival “Krökbacken”. It’s always a pleasure being there solo or playing with the band.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
In a way it’s all a big surprise. We get to go to new awesome places and meet new awesome people. it surely is an unpredictable business.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Lowrider, Tool, Alice In Chains, Elder, All Them Witches, Rezn, Black Sabbath… And the list goes on…
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Keep playing!
What are your guilty pleasures?
Being very lazy.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Umeå?
Umeå is a hardcore and punk mekka still to this day.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Tobacka Metal Festival later this month.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Record more music, playing live, hopefully on some new places that we never played before.
How can people best support your band?
