Doomed Confessionary: Kunzet (Ghoast)
In the foggy realms of Fribourg, Switzerland live four musical spirits who have come together under the name The Ghoast. With their heavy guitar riffs and dark sounds, they take their audience on a stoney journey. On stage they unleash an energy that makes even the stiffest neck bob along. They want to earn a permanent place for themselves in the dark walls of the Swiss stoner scene and leave their fans calling for more.
Ghoast have just released their new four-track EP »Ghoasthammer« on August 22nd, 2024. Available now on all major streaming platforms!
Can you say a few words about your band?
Founded in 2020 and started as a two-man project we set ourselves the goal of composing and recording two songs in one afternoon. After a beer-fueled session we surpassed our goal with four recorded songs and from that point on »Ghoast« was conjured up and the first EP »G.H.O.A.S.T.« (2021) was born.
After that everything followed in quick succession and two singles were released in short bursts with »Ground Hero« and »Money & Power«. In the following years further EPs followed with »Happy Armageddon« (2022), »Nemesis« (2023) and currently »Ghoasthammer« (2024).
We currently have a classic four-men line-up consisting furious guitar (Stef), trembling bass (Panda), deafening drums (Lionel) and nocturnal vocals (Kunzet).
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Composing, writing and producing all these songs by ourselfs in a short time and very small budget. Also to find two more cool band members who fit in with us and our sound.
What can you be most proud of so far?
That we released a new EP almost every year after the band was founded. We were also able to play the concert venues we wanted in our region.
What was your biggest regret?
No “ragrets” at all. We look to the future and accept all the good things we can experience with the band.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Our personal highlight so far has been our performance at the legendary Bad Bonn in Düdingen together with the band Sasquatch. It is always an honor and great fun to perform in our home country in front of friends in this concert location.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
That various music bloggers such as Stoned Meadow Of Doom, Rob Hammer and Weedian became aware of us and shared our EPs on their channels. A highlight was that our song »Forget November Rain« was published on the Stoner Rock compilation »Trip to Switzerland« by Weedian.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Although there is a lot of heavy stoner and doom like Weedeater or Bongzilla running on our ether, there is a lot of death metal going on at the moment like Memoriam, Bolt Thrower or Entombed for example.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Better a small part of something great than a big part of a pile of shit (Interview by Josh Homme).
What are your guilty pleasures?
Beer, cigarettes and video games.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Fribourg / Switzerland?
Switzerland has always had a committed and interesting underground scene. In our region rock of all kinds is very popular and widespread. There are many small bands that give their all for their passion.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
A tour is unfortunately not planned but we will play concerts as follows:
22.11.24 – Kino Exil, Düdingen, CH
06.12.24 – Alte Post Seebach, Zurich, CH
What are your plans for the future as a band?
The classic! Keeping the steamboat on course, writing more banging songs, EP and album releases to the point of no return and live concerts all over the world
How can people best support your band?
Make a shrine of us and hold daily occult ceremonies in our honor. All joking aside! Listen to our music and share and enjoy it with your people.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
If you have come this far we thank you many times for reading this and we hope to see you at a concert or at a bar sometime.
