Sounds For The Lost Generation

Doomed Confessionary: Logan, Drugo & Burton (Desert Wave)

Desert Wave is a psychedelic/stoner rock trio from Vicenza, Italy. Formed in 2016, when Drugo (drums) and Logan (bass) were already playing in a doom metal band to then they decided to break away and form their own that had a psychedelic/stoner style.

After placing an ad looking for a guitarist, Burton immediately showed up and the musical understanding started right away. Their musical influences on the other hand were quite similar, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, 70’s hard rock, Seattle grunge, up to the granite desert sound of Kyuss.

Desert Wave are Luca “Logan” Adamati (bass, vocals, synth), Enrico “Burton” Dalla Pozza (guitar) and Andrea “Drugo” Vetri (drums).

Can you say a few words about your band?
Hi! We are Desert Wave, a psychedelic/stoner band from Vicenza (Italy). We formed about ten years ago and have released 2 albums. The latest, »Deafening Silence«, will soon be released on vinyl by Argonauta Records.

What was the biggest challenge for the band this year?
Having managed to enter the Argonauta Records rooster. It’s a label that has great bands.

What can you be most proud of this year?
We are very proud of the positive reviews of our latest album. The Doom Charts collaborators spoke very highly of »Deafening Silence«. This stimulated us to the point that we already have some songs ready for the new album.

What was your biggest regret?
Certainly not having done many shows, not having been able to play at a festival and above all not having been able to do a small tour. Unfortunately, in Italy, psych/doom/stoner is not as popular as in Germany and Northern Europe and there are very few places to play. Consequently everything is more difficult to organize if you are a small band like ours.

What was the best concert/tour this year and why?
It was definitely when we opened for Nightstalker. It’s a band we love very much, so we brought out all our energy on stage and a great show came out

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
There were several good albums released this year, among them I really liked »Father Mist« by Stoned Jesus. I’ve also seen them live this year and they are truly amazing.

Where can we see you live next year (concerts/tours)?
Good question! Due to the usual problems linked to the little response that our genre (and our little-known band) has in the Italian music scene, we struggle to plan dates in our country. Abroad it’s even more difficult because we’re still unknown, and it’s difficult to get into the big scene like Sound of Liberation for example.

What are your plans for the next year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
For sure we will release the new album, and then we will try to play at some festivals, maybe with a small tour. Personally the thing we would like most would be to play at Duna Jam (it would be a dream come true!)

Do you already know what are you doing on New Year’s Eve?
We sure get drunk!

How can people best support your band?
Coming to the shows definitely, but also downloading our albums on Bandcamp, listening on Spotify and other digital platforms.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
We are finalizing the songs for the new album, I hope we will be able to let you hear it live soon too. Stay tuned!
