Doomed Confessionary: Lorenzo, Silvio & Marco (Aktopasa)

Aktopasa is a psychedelic/stoner/post-rock band from Venice, Italy. The trio was formed at the end of 2017 in the Venetian hinterland by Marco Sebastiano Alessi (drums), Lorenzo Barutta (guitar) and Silvio Tozzato (bass).
‘Aktopasa’ (or ‘अक्टोपस’, if you prefer) means octopus in Nepalese. Nepal is a landlocked continental state where the highest mountains on Earth rise. Those who live in this country may not usually see octopuses, and probably, for these populations, the octopuses are not even a main topic in everyday conversations.
Aktopasa aims to represent something that is not trivial, but with a certain – irrational – logic: psychedelic frequencies coming from mount Everest, a British coast or a Caribbean island, from the Underground or the outer Space, from a time not precisely defined.
The band released their third full-length album »Journey To The Pink Planet« on December 2nd, 2022 via Argonauta Records.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Hello, we’re Aktopasa, a psychedelic rock trio from Italy.
What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
It was tough to find gigs this year, more than we expected. Our latest album came out in December 2022, and we were hoping to get more support from the local audience. Still, the few concerts we had were amazing.
What can you be most proud of last year?
We had the opportunity to record new material for the soundtrack of a documentary coming out this year.
What was your biggest regret?
We were organizing a few international gigs with Pyramids and Space Shepherds, but due to a conflicting schedule it didn’t happen.
What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
We had a couple of great concerts, one at the Improve in Treviso and the other one at the Summernite Love Festival, together with out friends Alien Ducks…
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
»Exotico« by Temples.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
You can see us Duna Jam, even if no one knows about it.
What are your plans for this year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
Release the single we wrote for the documentary. Finish our upcoming album. We’d like to play more live and in exciting venues.
What were your New Year’s Eve activities like?
Marco was on a flight to Japan. Silvio was watching Peter Rabbit. Lorenzo was somewhere in the mountains.
How can people best support your band?
Buy our albums on Bandcamp and listen to us on Spotify!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
O canto o porto a crose (either I sing or I carry the cross).
