Doomed Confessionary: Ludo, Laurent & Fred (Azken Auzi)
Azken Auzi is a doom/sludge metal trio hailing from Toulon, France.
It was in the Spring of 2021 that Ludo, Laurent & Fred decided to explore an even darker and more tormented side to their understanding of music, emerging out of the remnants of Maniac (death metal) and Tom Is Fat (noisy rock), Azken Auzi combines doom/sludge but also more atmospheric passages.
Rapidly things took form, one composition and concert after another, until it was decided to record a first demo single »I Hate You« which received a very positive feedback.
Azken Auzi’s self-titled debut album was released on January 13th, 2023 via Argonauta Records.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Azken Auzi is a power trio based in south of France. We’re making a dark & heavy music, we like to call it “Evil Doom Sludge”.
What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
Without a doubt the release of our first album in January on Argonauta Records but also the filming and the release of our two videos »Disgrace« & »I Hate You«.
What can you be most proud of last year? What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
We’re proud of all the gigs we’ve done, mainly to have share the stage with Hippie Death Cult, Witchthroat Serpent & Råtten.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The biggest surprise of the music scene last year was that Hollywood was not interested in Azken Auzi for a biopic… (Of course it’s a joke lol)
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
A lot of shows are booked for 2024, 01/12 in Marseille, 01/26 in Montpellier, 03/09 in Toulouse, and many more…
What are your plans for the this year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We want to tour as much as possible, it will be easier since we have a partnership with Black Media Booking for 2024. Also we’re waiting for the release of the Argonauta Records cover compilation vol II (for the ones who love Alice In Chains, stay tuned )

The best ways to support our band are to listen and buy our music, follow us on social media (Youtube, Facebook, Instagram…) and mostly to come to our gigs!
