Death Has Spoken is a death/doom metal band from Poland formed in 2017. Known for blending melancholic melodies with crushing heaviness, the band explores themes of mortality, despair, and the abyss. The band continues to refine their sound to conclude the journey begun with their earlier works, presenting a darker and more focused vision. Death Has Spoken invites listeners to join them on an unending journey into darkness.
Their third full-length album, »Elegy«, is a defining moment in the band artistic evolution. Both lyrically and stylistically, the album serves not only as a continuation but as the conclusion of the journey begun with »Fade« and »Call Of The Abyss«.
With the new album, Death Has Spoken remains dedicated to exploring the depths of human emotion and the abyss that lies beyond, inviting listeners to join them on this unending journey into darkness. »Elegy« will be released on October 17th, 2025 via Meuse Music Records.
Death Has Spoken are Karol Pogorzelski (guitar, vocals), Marcin Grygoruk (guitar), Maciej Chodynicki (bass) and Mikołaj Kupczyński (drums).
Can you please say a few words about your band?
Sure, hi! We’re Death Has Spoken, from Poland. We mostly play death doom metal, but we also like to bring in some influences from other genres like black metal. We’ve been playing since 2017, released two full albums so far, and now we’re coming back with our third album, »Elegy«.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
For us, living in different cities made it tough to work together, rehearse, write music, and find a workflow that really worked – especially when we were writing the previous album during the covid times. But in the end, we found a way to overcome it.
What can you be most proud of so far?
We’re really proud of our newest album, »Elegy«. We took our time to polish the compositions and recording, and we’re happy with how it turned out. We honestly can’t wait for everyone to hear the whole thing!
What was your biggest regret?
Honestly, we can’t really say we have any big regrets as a band. We’re doing what we love – playing shows, making the music we want, and moving forward.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
That’s an easy one – opening for Ahab in Riga, Latvia. We’ve done a few shows with the Latvian band Frailty, both in Latvia and Poland, but that show in Riga really stands out. I mean, do I even have to say more? We love Ahab.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
How the underground doom scene can actually be really supportive among bands.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Lately, I’ve been listening to the new Blackbraid album, Stellar Blight, and Messa.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Just do your thing and put in the work, whatever you’re doing.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Some may say Deafheaven or Ghost might be a guilty pleasure.
Can you say something more about the current music scene in Poland?
There are definitely some doom bands worth mentioning like Rosary and Sun No More.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We are planning some local shows after the premiere of »Elegy« and definitely more shows next year. Keep an eye on our socials and Bandcamp for updates.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Right now, we are heavily invested in the premiere of »Elegy«. After that, we just want to keep writing, recording, and playing live.
