Doomed Confessionary: Marco Di Chiara, Marco Neri & Andrea Turini (Najing)
Najing are an instrumental post-metal band from Pisa (Italy). The group was formed in 2021 by Marco Di Chiara (drums), Marco Neri (bass) and Andrea Turini (guitar), with a musical proposal deeply rooted into post, doom metal and psychedelic tunes. The idea behind the project is to bring together the various influences of the members to create their own sound.
Najing’s self-titled debut album was released on April 14th, 2023 through Argonauta Records.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Hi, we are Najing from Italy. Our first album was released last April on Argonauta Records and we are delighted to be here for this interview.
What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
Our biggest challenge is to bring our music to as many people as possible. Having a fairly consistent calendar of gigs is also a great challenge, especially here in Italy where there are fewer and fewer spaces for concerts.
What can you be most proud of last year?
We are proud of everything. We are proud about our album that just came out, the concerts we’ve done and also the new songs we’re working on.
What was your biggest regret?
No regrets. We always try to do our best, definitely no regrets.
What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
Last year we had the privilege of opening the Arcturus concert at the Orion Club in Rome, it was an educational experience playing and interacting with professional sound engineers and we also met many interesting people.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Certainly the biggest surprise is the support between musicians that we have found since we have been playing together… meeting other bands, exchanging contacts, information and our own CDs fuels our desire to always take steps forward.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We opened for the Goblin of Claudio Simonetti in the Alchemica club in Bologna in January, we do not believe that explanations are needed on who the Goblin and Claudio Simonetti are but we firmly believe that it will be a evening of horror and powerful music.
What are your plans for this year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We still haven’t put down any main plan list for the future. We have many new songs we’re still working on (hoping to record them as soon as we are ready). Also we would like to play as many shows as possible, we really love taking our album out on stages.
What are your New Year’s Eve activities like?
Drinking, eating and maybe some other “funny things”. Can’t go wrong with that!
How can people best support your band?
The best support comes from attending live shows and buying our album on bandcamp. But really, every good word or greetings means a lot to us!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Support your local band/music scene! Buy the physical stuff, like CDs, vinyls and T-shirts (if you can) because those greedy online companies act like money vampire.
