Can you say a few words about your band?
L.o.W is a four-piece band from West Pomeranian – Szczecin – Poland founded in 2015. The group’s main focus is on combining 90’s doom/sludge sound with fresh ideas, harsh vocals featuring antisocial/nihilistic lyrics. Our influences include precursor bands like – Sleep, Electric Wizard, Weedeater, EyeHateGod – as well as newer bands such as Dopethrone, Monolord and With The Dead. L.o.W recorded an EP – »Bones« (2017) and a promo album – »Kill Us All« (2022). Right now, we’re playing shows, promoting our newest release – »Burning The Cradle« EP (2025) and working on new material.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Finding our sound was a bit of a challenge but honestly lately just really down to earth stuff like finding time where everyone is available. Over the last few years many things have changed whether it be work or kids. So transitioning into that new lifestyle was a struggle but I think we’re managing it ok.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Our newest release. »Burning The Cradle« came out on April 1st, 2025 and we believe it’s our best work yet. It’s not as depressing as Bones and a bit more polished than Kill us all but still has plenty of filth for you to feast on.
What was your biggest regret?
We don’t really have any, but if we had to pick something then probably that we didn’t gig more when we had less band unrelated duties.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
I guess there isn’t a specific one. But the last show we played was dope. It was in our home town – Szczecin. It was the second show we played after quite a long hiatus and a lineup change so we were excited. We were pretty hungover from the night before but so were many of our friends that came. Everyone got just the right amount of drunk or/and high and cheered us on. It was a good night.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Seeing Procession (Chile) live in Goleniów. Our friend Marcin Dec was organizing the show. The sheer epicenes of their performance was one of the first acts that set us on our path of doom music.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Seum – Winterized, Ghostsmoker – Inertia Cult, Conan – Violence Dimension – absolutely killer records. If you haven’t checked them out yet, be sure to do so.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
That it’s better to complement your bandmates playing instead of showing off.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Drinking moonshine and listening to 80’s heavy metal hits!
Can you say something more about the current music scene in West Pomeranian / Szczecin?
Although at its peak worldwide doom/sludge is still a niche in Poland. We never followed trends but hopefully the situation will change creating more live playing opportunities.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We always take work related hiatus during the summer but we’ll surely be booking gigs after.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Write new material and find a label for a longplay. Playing more gigs, creating crushing riffs, drinking beers – hopefully with no hangover.
How can people best support your band?
Locally – come to shows and have a beer with us. Of course buying merch helps but let’s face it none of us are in this for the money. Worldwide – just enjoy the music man! You can find us on Bandcamp. Share with your friends, follow us on Facebook, Instagram or YouTube. Like and drop us a comment or a message.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
Thank you for sticking with us through the years! We cherish every single one of you crazy motherfuckers!
