Spaceship Earth is a heavy-alt-rock-stoner band from Slovenia. Most original band members met at an Art college in Ljubljana, where they started their musical journey.

Current line up consists of Marko Ježek on vocals and guitar, Darian Tomašević on guitar, Peter Kogovšek on bass and Ambrož Močnik on drums.

Spaceship Earth released their debut EP »Geoengineering« in 2019, and their first studio single »Chrome« in 2024.

Can you say a few words about your band?
Hi everyone, we are Spaceship Earth, a group of four oddities who produce dynamic noise even when we should be quiet. We tend towards heavier sounds, which we sometimes interrupt with delicate moments. Our music is a mix of different genres, we combine elements of stoner and psychedelic rock, with grunge and alternative rock sounds of the 90s and 2000s.

What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
The toughest challenge was definitely organizing our own concert outside of “Publika bar”. We set up our equipment right there on the concrete floor outside the bar and hoped for the best. Lots of familiar faces turned up and we had a blast. Luckily, the authorities showed up before and not during the concert.

What can you be most proud of so far?
We put a lot of effort into recording our first single »Chrome« this year and learned a lot in the process. We are really happy with the way it turned out.

What was your biggest regret?
I don’t think we have many regrets, every time we fail or when something doesn’t go according to plan, we try to take it as a learning experience. I guess we could say we regret postponing the release of »Chrome«, due to challenges with the cover art. But in the end, I think it turned out great.

What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
As the highlight we would like to point out our headline performance at the 30th anniversary of Metelkova (Ljubljana) in the club “Menza pri Koritu”. The club was packed, and the energy was unbelievable. We are also quite fond of the concert outside of “Publika bar” mentioned before.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
For me personally, the biggest surprise was the return of the doom stoner band Kormorana to the scene. We hope to see more from them. We were also surprised that Queens Of The Stone Age are coming to tour in Europe. We already bought tickets.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Among my newly discovered favourites are the bands Gouge Away, Hum, Handsome and Speed Of Light. Really loving their energy and style. Other longer standing bands in our rotation are Queens Of The Stone Age, EyeHateGod, Amyl and the Sniffers, Idles, Kyuss, Deftones, Sleep, Tool, Electric Wizard, 1000mods…

What would you say about alternative/heavy rock scene nowadays in Slovenia?
I think the scene is very much alive in Slovenia. There have been a lot of new young bands emerging in the last few years that are making some very good music. There are also some smaller, more underground venues across the country, allowing the alternative scene to keep going. People still enjoy live music, and these kinds of places have a special, more intimate vibe that you can’t get at bigger, more mainstream venues.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We’ll be playing in Channel Zero at Metelkova on 11.4.2024, warming up for Love Gang. We’ve got some other stuff lined up, we suggest you follow us on social media, where we’ll post some dates soon.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
We have some new material that we recorded and are planning to release it sometime this year, so we’re pretty excited about that. We also plan to record some more and work on a full album. After that we would really like to extend our reach to some other countries and maybe start playing some concerts abroad.

How can people best support your band?
By listening to our music. Every stream, like or share is a great help to us getting more traction.
And of course, going to our live shows. We post everything we do on social media, where you can get updates on new releases and concert dates. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
Follow your own rules, life’s too short.
