Doomed Confessionary: Marky, Hormi & Pixin (Riffer)

Riffer is a stoner/doom/sludge trio hailing from Asunción, Paraguay.

Formed in 2018, the band consists of Marky (guitar, vocals), Hormi (bass) and Pixin (drums).

So far, Riffer released four EPs, »Introitus« (2019), »Doomfits« (2019), »Doomcraft« (2020) and »Halloweed« (2021), and are currently gearing up to drop their full-length debut album »Rifftual«.

Can you say a few words about your band?
Riffer is a stoner/doom/sludge band formed in Asunción – Paraguay by Marky (guitar/screams) and Pixin (drums) in 2018. After changes in the line-up, Hormi joins on bass in 2022 to complete the power trio.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Finish recording the new material that would be our first album titled »Rifftual«.

What can you be most proud of so far?
That we have a solid lineup as a band, we give good shows and we started recording the album.

What was your biggest regret?
I don’t regret anything. Everything you experience is part of the lessons that life gives you.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Last year’s stoner/doom festival that took place at the VMS room in Asunción. We were able to share with good bands of the music genre and we had a good reception from the public.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Meet new bands and stoner/doom followers with whom they share shows and information about the music genre.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Sleep, High On Fire, Om, Down, Thin Lizzy, Motörhead, Darkthrone, Hawkwind.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Rehearse a lot, play in tune and have fun.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I don’t have any.

Can you say something more about current music scene in Asunción / Paraguay?
It’s growing.. There are many new and good bands of all music genre of rock and metal. As long as noise is made I will continue to be very happy!!!

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We don’t have anything planned yet. The priority is to finish recording and release the album.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Continue playing everywhere you can and record many more albums.

How can people best support your band?
Going to shows, buying our records, sharing our materials and that kind of stuff. Since we are not a musically accessible band we are sure that the people who approach us and like our music are not lying about it. Guajajajaja..

No matter what you are doing… Stay strong and firm to achieve your goals!!!!
